BLM protesters block Key Bridge, hit Georgetown by day and by night

The 8th of August featured a new set of targets by Black Lives Matter protesters. The daytime march from Malcolm X Park took over Key Bridge before marching into Georgetown, and the night-time "Fuck the Police" march from Dupont Circle included a noisy, late-night "WAKE UP!" march through some of the richest residential neighborhoods in Georgetown.

Video-"fire, fire, gentrifier" as marchers confront the wealthy

Video of August 1 confrontation between DC "Fuck the Police" direct action march and rich, unmasked diners at an upscale restaurant on U st. Note that the restaurant has a Black Lives Matter sign, but that seems to be for show. This confrontation started when protesters did a "while you are dining, Black people are dying" mic-check, and diners started arguing with protesters.

Reportback from Aug 1 day of marches and action

On the first of August, at least three different marches took to the streets of DC. The first was DemandDC's big march originating at the African-American history museum on the Mall. Then came the "Take back our streets" march from Malcolm X Park that blocked I-395, and finally the weekly "Fuck the Police" march wound through the streets, stopping at upscale sidewalk cafes to demand that rich white diners oppose police brutality.
