CISPES Solidarity Cyclers Ride returns to DC after 180 miles in 3 days

On the 29th of May, the CISPES Solidarity Ride returned to DC from 180 miles on the road by bike in three days. The ride raised over $17, 500 for the CISPES Education Fund, which supports community-based organizing in El Salvador. The Washington Peace Center reports some of this organizing will be efforts to resist border militarization in both Central America and in Mexico as being pushed by the US. CISPES is the Committee in Solidarity with the people of El Salvador

Day 3:Frederick, MD to Washington DC:The third and final day of the ride reached Beach Drive from Grosvenor Lane shortly before 5PM after a long day on the road from Frederick, MD. For once it was a dry day, unlike the drenching rains of Sunday. The ride stopped next to Beach Drive for the symbolic Bike Lift photos many participants took for their donors, then climbed the hill out of Rock Creek Park to the finish line.

Day 2: Harper's Ferry to Frederick, MD: On the 28th of May, the ride passed through drenching rains on the way from Harper's Ferry at the junction of MD, Va, and W Va back to Frederick, MD. One rider reported "it poured for a while so everyone got soaked." There are limits to what raingear can do. Rain or not, the riders still managed to finish the route, with most arriving in Frederick shortly before 6PM.

Day 1: DC to Harper's Ferry: Early morning on the 27th of May, the CISPES Solidarity Cyclers Ride set out from DC on a 180 mile bike trip exiting the city towards Harper's Ferry and back. The ride passes through areas of DC, MD, VA and a small part of W VA in the process. The ride is raising money to resist ongoing US imperialism and interference in Central America
