The Shortwave Report 10/12/18 Listen Globally!

Dear Radio Friend,     This week's show features stories from Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and Sputnik Radio.  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr181012.mp3        From GERMANY- The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or the IPCC, released a report stating that immediate changes need to be made to prevent catastrophic climate change. Germany just witnessed the largest climate protest in its history over removing a forest to extract coal. 40% of Germany's energy comes from coal. According to the report, just meeting the Paris agreement for carbon reduction will not be enough. This is happening while the Trump administration is reversing environmental protection, though California and many cities are establishing their own standards. The credibility of the report will be questioned in the US, where the expansion of renewable energy will be held back by changes to the tax code policy.         From CUBA- In Brazil, far-right candidate Bolsonaro almost won the presidency outright but will face off with Lula da Silva’s replacement on October 28th. In Germany 50,000 protestors converged on Hambach forest to successfully stop clearcutting in preparation for coal extraction. On the 17th anniversary of start of the US invasion of Afghanistan, at least 54 people were killed including at least 19 civilians- this is the longest war in US history. China has called on the US to stop its misguided actions like recent trade tariffs and accusations of meddling in US elections. US National Security Advisor John Bolton has claimed that Palestine is not a state, despite 137 UN member states that do recognize it.         From RUSSIA- On his program called Going Underground, Afshin Rattansi spoke with human rights lawyer Geoffrey Robertson QC. They discussed the International Court of Justice ruling against Trump. John Bolton has stated that the International Criminal Court should be eliminated, and their judges will be arrested if they attempt to investigate US torture and death squads in 2003 and 2004. Geoffrey represented Lula da Silva in what he describes as an Inquisition style court. In this interview recorded a few days before the Brazilian election, Geoffrey states that the Brazilian government has falsely charged and illegally imprisoned Lula to prevent him from winning the presidency.             The latest Shortwave Report (October 12) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/shortwave.shtml  in 3 forms- (new) HIGHEST QUALITY (160kb)(33MB), broadcast quality (13MB), and quickdownload or streaming form (6MB) (28:59) Links at page bottom   (If you have access to Audioport there is a highest quality version posted up there {33MB} http://www.audioport.org/index.php?op=producer-info&uid=904&nav=&) PODCAST!!!- feed://www.outfarpress.com/podcast.xml  (160kb Highest Quality) NEW ARTICLE about the Shortwave Report in the Boulder Weekly by Gavin Dahl-http://npaper-wehaa.com/boulder-weekly/2015/03/26/#?article=2478097 links for this week's edition- <  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr181012.mp3  > (33 MB) HIGHEST QUALITY<  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr_10_12_18.mp3   > (13 MB) Broadcast Quality<  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr_10_12_18_24.mp3  > (6 MB) Slow Modem streamingWebsite Page- < http://www.outfarpress.com/shortwave.shtml >       ¡FurthuR!      Dan Roberts "The state can't give you freedom, and the state can't take it away.
