Civil rights protesters stage die-in at Union Station, Shut down Georgetown and Key Bridge

On the 6th of December the fast and furious pace of protests against police murders of African-Americans continued with a 3PM die-in at Union Station and a street march that began shortly after 6PM on U street. This march went downtown, to Georgetown, and crossed Key Bridge into Arlington before deciding on the Metro to disperse to lose two undercover cops. Just before Georgetown there was an ugly incident where a US Capitol Policeman assaulted one of the protesters.

The march passed through Washington Circle on the way to Georgetown, fooling DC cops who thought they were going to Dupont. Just after this point,a US Capitol Police Officer with badge number S871 assaulted protesters. There exists video footage in which a frame by freame examination shows an arm in a Capitol Police uniform reaching out to strike at protesters just as the scrum starts. Carslyle reports that there were US Capitol Police acting as agitators the previous night as well.

Just before 9PM marchers reached Georgetown and shut it down on a rainy Saturday night. One poster said on Twitter that Metro was kept out of Georgetown in an effort to exclude exactly this, but obviously it didn't work. From Georgetown protesters then marched into Rosslyn over the Key Bridge. Arlington cops seemed to know where protesters were going in advance according to the live video feed, so protesters ducked in the Metro to return to DC. At this point, someone discovered two undercover cops in the protest. With undercovers present, protesters decided to disperse until the next day.

Following a Friday night of BART train station shutdowns in Oakland, and random direct actions and large scale marches through tourist-shopping areas in San Francisco, on Saturday night even usually laid back Berkeley was kickin', with the downtown BART station closed, and both City of Berkeley and University of California police posted at various intersections.  People's Park is filled with protesters, and East Bay Food Not Bombs and Berkeley Catholic Worker are serving meals at the stage area.  The CW will serve a Sunday breakfast at 7:30AM.  CLS, 2:25AM, PST
