On the 9th of December, Declare Emergency setup their second blockade of I-395 in a row in afternoon rush hour. Things quickly turned ugly as motorists got out of their cars and dragged them out of the street. Blockaders set back up after those motorists drove off, eventually being arrested by MPD.

Climate blockaders strike 2nd day in a row in AM rush hour

On the 8th of December, climate blockaders shut down I-395's exit from the tunnel onto New York Ave. The previous day, climate blockaders had been part of the larger ShutDown DC direct action that choked off much of the vehicle access to the US Capitol. I-395 over the 14th st Bridge is the route most Congressmen use to get to work, and blocking the tunnel exit often backs it up past the bridge, shutting off this access.

Other blockades hit Penn Ave NW and SE, Mass Ave NE, and there was even a report on radio of traffic issues near the White House.

COP26: What you’d expect when oil companies are in and environmentalists are out

The annual get-together of the world’s governments, where in most years they express concern about global warming and announce they will continue to talk about it, was not quite the usual washout this year, as small progress was made, at least theoretically.
