Greek voters defy EU and IMF, vote "no surrender" on austerity

On the 5th of July, voters in Greece went to the polls for Syriza's referendum on the now-withdrawn IMF offer of even more austerity in return for more bailout loans. In spite of closed banks and dwindling supplies on grocery store shelves, Greek voters chose by over 60% to reject the austerity terms.

Sen Feinstein confronted at TPP fast-track clears cloture vote

On the 23ed of June, the Senate voted to cut off debate on the "fast-track" bill for the TPP, TISA, and TTIP trade treaties. The proposal only needs 50 votes to pass in Wednesday's final vote. Beyond Extreme Energy confronted Sen Dianne Feinstein in her office over her support for TPP fast-track while other activists took up a position on the corner of the Capitol grounds. Just after 11:30AM, the 60th vote to cut off debate was cast.

Marchers on Capitol Hill stand against TAA bill critical to TPP fast-track

On the 15th of June, protesters from a number of groups marched on Capitol Hill, demanding NO COMPROMISE on the TAA "Trade Assistance Authority" bill without which passage of TPP/TTIP/TISA fast track is considered impossible. Both Flush the TPP and Feminist Majority Foundation were well represented. Not long after, the vote on TAA was put off to an unspecified time between now and July 30 in an attempt to keep the deal alive. This was because Boehner now fears that an actual vote will be a no vote, ending almost any chance that the TPP trade deal will be finished or ratified while Obama remains in office.

TPP fast-track "in shambles" after sweetener bill goes down in flames

The Obama/corporate GOP trade agenda suffered a serious setback in a House vote on June 12, 2015. First the House voted down the "Trade Assistance Authority" bill to pay for worker retraining caused by trade deals. This was by a 302-126 margin. Next, they passed a TPA (fast-track) bill that was different than the Senate version. Now there is no clear roadmap, and even Nancy Pelosi is now vowing to stop TPP fast-track, also known as TPA or "Trade Promotion Authority." She said "It's time to SLOW this #FastTrack down." Unfortunately she didn't say "kill it and stake the vampire."

Congress votes on TPP fast-track as activists vigil

On the 11th of June, several activists opposing Congressional "fast-track" authority for the TPP trade deal held vigil next to the US Capitol, intending to stay put until the Friday, June 12 vote in the House on the TPP fast-track bill

Activists take to Capitol Hill against TPP fast-track House vote

On the 4th of June, activists began the "Rigged Trade Rebellion" presence on Capitol Hill to oppose passage of "fast-track" for the TPP and other trade deals. This presence will continue every Tuesday and Thursday at Independence and NJ Aves SW. The TPP treaty is nearly done except for disputes between the US and Japan, stopping fast-track is not crucial to stopping the entire TPP.
