 CCNV Summer Fundraiser: Supporting Our Homeless Neighbors Everyone is welcome to come out for the CCNV Summer Cookout & Fish Fry Fundraiser. All proceeds will go toward the upkeep of the building and to benefit the nearly 1000 homeless DC residents who reside there. We will have freshy fried whiting fish, flavored to perfection, hamburgers or cheeseburgers, all beef hot dogs, and all the trimmings. Ice cold bottles of water and your favorite chips and sodas on the side.

July 4: Trump campaign rally, Code Pink's Baby Trump balloon, Proud Boys start trouble

On July 4, Code Pink set up the Baby Trump and Trump on a toilet balloons as Trump turned the July 4 Mall events into a campaign rally for himself. Outside the checkpoints, MAGAts (Trump supporters) were everywhere along with Trump campaign signs and hats. Some of the Proud Boys showed up and when protesters burned a US flag the Proud Boys responded with a near-riot.

Congress, White House Move Disaster Relief for Puerto Rico, US States and Territories

On Thursday, the Senate passed a $19.1 billion disaster relief plan to aid Americans recovering from natural disasters in US Territories like Puerto Rico and States including Iowa. The House of Representatives and the White House are expected to approve the Senate plan."Millions of Americans are suffering and this disaster relief plan is urgently needed. We applaud Senate leaders and the White House for agreeing on a disaster deal," noted Eric LeCompte who leads the religious development group Jubilee USA.

Senate Votes on Puerto Rico Disaster Aid and Emergency Food Assistance

The Senate agreed to vote next week on disaster relief legislation that includes $600 million in emergency food assistance for Puerto Rico. In recent days, a turbulent exchange between President Trump and Congressional leadership exploded over whether or not Puerto Rico disaster aid monies should be included in Senate legislation.
