On the 22nd of December, protesters showed up at a Chase Bank branch on K st. This was just three days after Wet'suwet'en land defenders again evicted Coastal Gaslink construction crews from unceded First Nations' land. Chase Bank is funding the attempt to build this fracked gas pipeline over land the Wet'suwet'en have never ceded, surrendered, or yielded in any way to so-called "Canada."

On the 20th of December, the People for Fairness Coalition began their 9th annual Homeless Memorial Vigil. After speakers at Luther Place finished, marchers with candles headed down 14th st to Freedom Plaza where an all-night vigil was held.

Canadian Embassy gets anti-Coastal Gaslink posters as Wet'suwet'en evict pipeline drill crews

On the morning of Dec 19, Wet'suwet'en land defenders evicted a Coastal Gaslink drill site for trespassing on unceded Wet'suwet'en territory. On Monday, the 20th of December, pro-Wet'suwet'en, anti-pipeline stickers were densely posted in the area of the Canadian Embassy. Warriors allied with the Wet'suwet'en have a very long reach and arm, able to reach so-called "Canada's" assets anywhere on the continent.

Social Justice and climate groups blockade much of Capitol Hill in AM Rush Hour

On Dec 7, 2021 social justice and climate groups launched waves of blockaders against AM rush hour traffic near the US Capitol. Cops managed to pre-empt Extinction Rebellion DC's boat, only to get Code Pink's Peace Tank blocking Independence Ave anyway. Other blockades hit Penn Ave NW and SE, Mass Ave NE, and there was even a report on radio of traffic issues near the White House.

Fascist Patriot Front march on US Capitol draws jeers and heckling from DC residents

On the 4th of December, the explicitly fascist group "Patriot Front" again marched into DC with zero advance publicity, hoping to avoid anti-Fascist counterprotesters. This is not as effective as it used to be. Random DC residents and tourists followed the march, heckling, shouting insults, and running a noisemaker.

Protesters march on MPD's headquarters for Antwan Gilmore

On the 4th of December, protesters including members of Antwan Gilmore's family marched on MPD's main headquarters.The march began at the NY and FL Ave intersectionm where MPD officer Enis Jervis killed Antwan Gilmore on Aug 25. They found him asleep in his car, woke him up-and opened fire when he allegedly tried to drive away. Now family members and BLM activists are demanding that Enis Jervis be not just fired but locked up for his crime.

Supporters, family of Antwan Gilmore march on U st

On the 5th of November, Black Lives Matter activists supporting and accompanying the family of Antwan Gilmore again marched on U st. Antwan Gilmore was shot by MPD in August after being found sleeping in his car and accosted by cops.

March for Antwan Gilmore harassed by off-duty cops, some of them drunk

On the 15th of October, off-duty/out of state cops in DC for a fallen officers memorial hassled and drew engagement from a Black Lives Matter march for Antwan Gilmore. Some of the cops were drunk while calling for MPD to attack the march.

Cops get violent as Indigenous water protectors occupy BIA

On Oct 14th, Indigenous water protectors got inside the Dept of the Interior building and occupied the offices of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) for the first time since the 1970's. Cops got violent, tasering and clubbing people early in the action. In the end,a reported 55 people were arrested and cops had to force their way through blockades surrounding the building to get out with arrestees.
