Code Pink holds protest of looming war in Ukraine

On the 27th of January, Code Pink held a mid-day protest in front of the White House against increasingly likely war in Ukraine. The fact that both the US and Russia posess nuclear weapons greatly increases the stakes if both countries commit troops to the same battlefield.

Witness Against Torture, Amnesty International protest Gitmo on 20th annv of opening

On the 11th of January, 2002, the Gates of Hell opened for business in Guantanimo Bay, Cuba. Twenty years later, Gitmo is still open and protesters around the world remembered this ugly anniversary. Here in DC, Witness Against Torture and Amnesty International held their annual protest in front of the White House.

Social Justice and climate groups blockade much of Capitol Hill in AM Rush Hour

On Dec 7, 2021 social justice and climate groups launched waves of blockaders against AM rush hour traffic near the US Capitol. Cops managed to pre-empt Extinction Rebellion DC's boat, only to get Code Pink's Peace Tank blocking Independence Ave anyway. Other blockades hit Penn Ave NW and SE, Mass Ave NE, and there was even a report on radio of traffic issues near the White House.
