On the 20th of December, the People for Fairness Coalition began their 9th annual Homeless Memorial Vigil. After speakers at Luther Place finished, marchers with candles headed down 14th st to Freedom Plaza where an all-night vigil was held.

On the morning of Dec 19, Wet'suwet'en land defenders evicted a Coastal Gaslink drill site for trespassing on unceded Wet'suwet'en territory. On Monday, the 20th of December, pro-Wet'suwet'en, anti-pipeline stickers were densely posted in the area of the Canadian Embassy. Warriors allied with the Wet'suwet'en have a very long reach and arm, able to reach so-called "Canada's" assets anywhere on the continent.

The 14th of December was a national day of action against Enbridge's Line 3 tar sands pipeline, the anniversary of a major drill pad blockade at the Missisippi River that slowed construction in 2020. On Dec 14, 2021, one of the many actions across Turtle Island demanding this pipeline be forever shut down, both the old and "replacement" Line 3.

On the 13th of December 1971,the Supreme Court's heard oral arguments in the landmark Roe Vs Wade case that legalized abortion in those places in the US that banned it. Fifty years later, as the Court appears poised to reverse Roe, activists held a vigil in the dark, vowing to do whatever it takes to make upcoming bans on abortion, contraception, and other reproductive rights ineffective.

On the 10th of December, Extinction Rebellion DC showed up outside the GOP-dominated Capitol Hill Club for a round of anticapitalist caroling. There was little response from the GOP'ers inside except for one who yelled that Trump would be back in 2024. That drew a response that Trump belongs in prison from one person.

On the 9th of December, Declare Emergency setup their second blockade of I-395 in a row in afternoon rush hour. Things quickly turned ugly as motorists got out of their cars and dragged them out of the street. Blockaders set back up after those motorists drove off, eventually being arrested by MPD.

Declare emergency's goal is to get the government to formally declare a climate emergency.

On the 8th of December, climate blockaders shut down I-395's exit from the tunnel onto New York Ave. The previous day, climate blockaders had been part of the larger ShutDown DC direct action that choked off much of the vehicle access to the US Capitol. I-395 over the 14th st Bridge is the route most Congressmen use to get to work, and blocking the tunnel exit often backs it up past the bridge, shutting off this access.

On Dec 7, 2021 social justice and climate groups launched waves of blockaders against AM rush hour traffic near the US Capitol. Cops managed to pre-empt Extinction Rebellion DC's boat, only to get Code Pink's Peace Tank blocking Independence Ave anyway. Other blockades hit Penn Ave NW and SE, Mass Ave NE, and there was even a report on radio of traffic issues near the White House.

On the 4th of December, the explicitly fascist group "Patriot Front" again marched into DC with zero advance publicity, hoping to avoid anti-Fascist counterprotesters. This is not as effective as it used to be. Random DC residents and tourists followed the march, heckling, shouting insults, and running a noisemaker.

On the 4th of December, protesters including members of Antwan Gilmore's family marched on MPD's main headquarters.The march began at the NY and FL Ave intersection where MPD officer Enis Jervis killed Antwan Gilmore on Aug 25.

Senator Joe Manchin (D?/W-VA) is the reason the GOP still has the filibuster available to block everything from paid family leave to climate/carbon legislation. He lives on the 3ed largest yacht at the Washington Yacht Club and has been a target of repeated protests. On the evening of Dec 2, Sunrise Movement showed up with a brass band on Maine Ave near his dock.

On the 20th of November, Cancel the Rent DC marched on the suburban-style home of DC's Mayor Muriel Bowser. Activists were demanding the recently-expired moratorium on evictions be put back into force among other demands. An eviction notice is an especially nasty Yule present from any landlord.

On Friday, Nov 19, Extinction Rebellion DC staged a boat blockade of NY Ave halting right turns off I-395. This was over the failed COP 26 climate summit. By 8:20AM there was a report that backed up traffic jams.had blocked both the 14th st bridge and Memorial Bridge.

COP26 generated nothing but useless, unenforceable, and wateree down promises from the usual fossil fuel funded politicians.

On the 10th of November, anti-prison activists pounced on the reports that the DC Jail expelled no less than the US Marshalls during a suprise inspection that found "inhumane conditions." Instead of moving a few hundred inmates hundreds of miles from their families, activists are demanding that all inmates at the DC Jail be released and judges STOP sending people into pretrial detention etc.

On the 30th of October, opponents of "redevelopment" of McMillan Park into "mixed use" office, upscale retail, and luxury apartments held a rally at 1st and Bryant Sts NE. A single supporter of the developers attempted to counterprotest by playing one song over and over at top volume on a sound system mounted in his car. Neighbors disturbed by the noise demanded he turn it down or leave.
