The Shortwave Report 10/25/19 Listen Globally!

Dear Radio Friend,     This week's show features stories from Radio Deutsche-Welle, Sputnik Radio, Radio Havana Cuba, and Spanish National Radio,   http://www.outfarpress.com/swr191025.mp3        From GERMANY- A series of 7 brief news updates from Northern Ireland, Israel, Bolivia, Lebanon, Chile and Britain.        From RUSSIA- Afshin Rattansi interviewed journalist John Pilger who is a close associate of Julian Assange. Julian was taken to a magistrate court hearing which was intended to speed up his extradition to the US. Pilger describes Assange's seriously deteriorated health after being held for the US without UK charges at a maximum security prison in solitary confinement. Pilger compares it to show trials under Stalin in the 1950s, except the British press did not even report on the hearing. The judge dismissed the UN report saying Julian's prison treatment was torture under international law.   Pilger accuses the current media of delivering propaganda as an extension of the government.        From CUBA- Cuban President Diaz-Canal congratulated Evo Morales for winning another term as president of Bolivia, one of the few countries in Latin America that has not shifted politically to the right-wing. In Bolivia right-wing protestors responded to the election results with violent attacks on electoral centers and indigenous supporters of Morales. International observers reported praised the legitimacy and transparency of the Bolivian election, though the American backed opposition candidate and media question the results.        From SPAIN- Alison Hughes reports on the protests and curfews in Chile. President Pinera deployed military troops onto the streets for the first time since the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. The imposition of austerity measures has driven more than half of the population into deep poverty. Citizens of the Catalonian region of Spain battled with federal police for a week following long jail terms for 9 of their elected officials. The source of the conflict is attempts to declare a return to independence for the region- a recent poll shows that the region is evenly divided on the question, and an editorial stated that only the far-right has grown in popularity as a result of the conflict.             The latest Shortwave Report (October 25) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/shortwave.shtml  in 3 forms- (new) HIGHEST QUALITY (160kb)(33MB), broadcast quality (13MB), and quickdownload or streaming form (6MB) (28:59) Links at page bottom   (If you have access to Audioport there is a highest quality version posted up there {33MB} http://www.audioport.org/index.php?op=producer-info&uid=904&nav=&) PODCAST!!!- feed://www.outfarpress.com/podcast.xml  (160kb Highest Quality) ARTICLE about the Shortwave Report in the Boulder Weekly by Gavin Dahl-http://npaper-wehaa.com/boulder-weekly/2015/03/26/#?article=2478097 links for this week's edition- <  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr191025.mp3  > (33 MB) HIGHEST QUALITY<  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr_10_25_19.mp3   > (13 MB) Broadcast Quality<  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr_10_25_19_24.mp3  > (6 MB) Slow Modem streamingWebsite Page- < http://www.outfarpress.com/shortwave.shtml >       ¡FurthuR!      Dan Roberts "O take heart, my brothers.
