Shooting attack on meetup for Portland Amir Locke march leaves one dead, five wounded

On the 19th of February, Portland activists were gathering at normandale park to march for Amir Locke, the man shot and killed by Minneapolis police in a wrong-address raid. As they were gathering, someone opened fire on the park. One person was reported killed and five wounded two known arrests.

When cops arrived on the scene, medics treating the wounded where shoved out of the way and one was even detained for providing lifesaving medical treatment.

If this shooting turns out to be the work of fascists and/or white supremacists, it is nothing less than a declaration of war. It would take few further incidents of this nature to turn the long-running "cold civil war" in the US into a hot civil war. This danger brings up the possibility that "accelerationist" elements in the far-right could have a role in this as well. Threats of this are not new: here in DC, MPD Lt. Shane Lamond was given the job of investigating an election-night threat to shoot up BLM Plaza. The threat arrived by email and included a photo of a sniper rifle on a bipod. MPD did nothing after the case went to Shane Lamond, now it turns out Shane Lamond has been suspended from MPD for his connections to the Proud Boys. DC got a break and the shooter never showed up. Now a year and a half later, Portland was not so lucky and someone shot down racial justice protesters in an act of cold-blooded murder.
