The 8th of August featured a new set of targets by Black Lives Matter protesters. The daytime march from Malcolm X Park took over Key Bridge before marching into Georgetown, and the night-time "Fuck the Police" march from Dupont Circle included a noisy, late-night "WAKE UP!" march through some of the richest residential neighborhoods in Georgetown.

Video of August 1 confrontation between DC "Fuck the Police" direct action march and rich, unmasked diners at an upscale restaurant on U st. Note that the restaurant has a Black Lives Matter sign, but that seems to be for show. This confrontation started when protesters did a "while you are dining, Black people are dying" mic-check, and diners started arguing with protesters.

On the first of August, at least three different marches took to the streets of DC. The first was DemandDC's big march originating at the African-American history museum on the Mall. Then came the "Take back our streets" march from Malcolm X Park that blocked I-395, and finally the weekly "Fuck the Police" march wound through the streets, stopping at upscale sidewalk cafes to demand that rich white diners oppose police brutality.

On the last day of July, landlord Bob Miley showed up in Chillum, MD with the intent of illegally evicting tenants of a house he "owns." He saw from the end of the block that the area was packed with protesters and beat a hasty retreat. With no court order he could not get police help for his failed attempt to change the locks.

On the 29th of July, Black Lives Matter activists held a "protest and paint" sign painting on BLM Plaza to prepare for Saturday's big push. Back on July 16, cops harassed a similar sign painting session, this time MPD had the good sense to stay away. About an hour and a half into this, activists on bikes rode through the Plaza as part of an evening ride.

Black Lives Matter protesters are still holding out on and around Black Lives Matter Plaza. Major protests almost always stop there, and on July 28, organizers held one of their periodic sunset yoga session there. Also midnight yoga has been held on some weekend nights.

On the evening of July 25, one of the groups associated with BLM protests marched through Georgetown. A car driver rammed them, putting the car in gear and pushing through in three separate moves. Her car has been identified by Twitter posters as being registered to Robbin K Blaya, an attorney with Trump's Department of Justice.

DHS acting secretary Chad Wolf is in charge of deployments of Fedral troops to Portland and elsewhere. He also has called all protesters "Violent anarchists" regardless of tactics. On Sunday, July 26 protesters responded by gathering outside his house. Calls were made for him to experience "social consequences" for his crimes against the people.

On the evening of the 25th of July, an FTP (Fuck the Police) march took to the streets in solidarity with Portland and with all those murdered by police. Undercover cops in the march repeated started trouble, at one point even managing to steer the march into what was supposed to be a trap. Only problem for the cops was that determined protesters kept defeating the bike cops who were supposed to spring those traps.

On the afternoon of July 26, a big crowd gathered in Columbia Heights to demand that the DC City Council and/or landlords cancel all rent owed by tenants for the months affected by COVID-19. Landlords of course should be free to refuse to pay their mortages for the same reason, and if that takes down the banks bailing out depositors directly doesn't let the rich divert the money to their own pockets.

On the 25th of July, the PSL's storm-delayed Portland solidarity protest got a boost from a contingent of Veterans for BLM. In Portland, similar Veterans groups have lended muscle to hard-pressed protesters facing Trump's oathbreaking, Constitution-burning stormtroopers.

On the 24th of July, unknown activists dropped a banner from a highway overpass in solidarity with the Portland protesters who have been slugging it out with Trump's Federal Stormtroopers.

On the 24th of July, DC Mayor Bowser issued an order demanding that anyone entering or returning to DC from high coronavirus areas such as Florida "self-quarantine" for 14 days. There is no enforcement measure included other than business being allowed to deny service to those who do not comply, and the potential to invoke the Communicable and Preventable Diseases Act. Thus MPD does not appear to be empowered to make arrests for violation of this. It is Possible that Trump knew this was coming and that this is the reason the Jacksonville, FL RNC events have been cancelled.

On the 23ed of July, Black Lives Matter activists arrived outside Mayor Bowser's house for yet another residential protest demanding she defund MPD. The protest was largely an educational session on how cops don't make Black people any safer. As a real-world example of this, cops did nothing about it when an impatient driver tried to forcibly push through protesters as the rally began.

It looks like the question of why police harassed homeless people camping in Franklin Square just before the George Floyd Uprising started has been answered. A "partnership between the National Park Service and ... Mayor Muriel Bowser" has fenced off the park for a major renovation project. No doubt this is to include permanent expulsion of the homeless to make way for upscale office workers and power lunches.

On the 19th of July, exactly a month after the Pike statue outside MPD was torn down, the "Wheels for Justice" bike ride took to the streets. The highlight of the ride was taking over I-395.

On the 18th of July, MPD attempted to intimidate protesters into leaving BLM Plaza-just before the "Fuck the Police" march arrived and by their presence ended the police offensive. The John Lewis Vigil and midnight yoga then took place without further harassment. En route, the FTP march chanted "Fire, fire, gentrifier! in Adams-Morgan and other gentrified areas.

On Friday, the 17th of July, Black Lives Matter protesters again marched on the home of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, demanding that she defund MPD. Her response was to summon over 30 cops to "protect" her from the public.

Friday, the 17th of July was supposed to be a court-ordered deadline for ICE to release detained children so they don't get COVID-19. Instead, ICE went and got another ten-day extension, twice the 5 day average covid incubation period.
