Dear Radio Friend,     This week's show features stories from Sputnik Radio, Spanish National Radio, Radio Havana Cuba, and NHK World Radio Japan.  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr180706.mp3        From RUSSIA- On his show called Going Underground, Afshin Rattansi interviewed Sy Hersh, Pulitzer-prize winning journalist. They discuss why his reporting is dismissed by many in the left in the US, some history of his historic coverage of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, his controversial coverage of the gas attacks in Syria which led him to be called an apologist for Assad, and who is behind the incidents of nerve agents in Britain.        From SPAIN- Alison Hughes begins with coverage of the presidential election in Mexico, won by leftist Manuel Obrador. His victory is a rebuke to the political parties that have controlled Mexico since the 1930s, leading some to call him a new Hugo Chavez. He has pledged to curtail corruption and the violence which has plagued the nation. German Chancellor Angela Merkel reached a deal to end internal disputes by toughening immigration policy, blocking people at the Austrian border. Austria then said they may close their borders with Italy and Slovenia, and  Italy sent weapons and boats to help Libyan maritime authorities block migrants before they reach Europe.        From CUBA-  Across the US there were 700 protests last weekend opposing Trump's Zero Tolerance immigration crackdown. The US Dept of Health and Human services is refusing to disclose how many migrant children separated at the border they are still holding. The US is calling for increased pressure and sanctions on Nicaragua, accusing the government of corruption and human rights violations. The president of the Brazilian Supreme Court has another month to decide on the petition to allow Lula da Silva his freedom from jail while campaigning for president and appealing his conviction.        From JAPAN- Japan has created a long term energy plan calling for greater reliance on solar power and other renewables. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has lashed out at Trump's call for all countries to cease buying Iranian oil. The EU says that the US could face global retaliation for recently imposed tariffs, now proposed for automobiles as well.             The latest Shortwave Report (July 6) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/shortwave.shtml  in 3 forms- (new) HIGHEST QUALITY (160kb)(33MB), broadcast quality (13MB), and quickdownload or streaming form (6MB) (28:59) Links at page bottom   (If you have access to Audioport there is a highest quality version posted up there {33MB} http://www.audioport.org/index.php?op=producer-info&uid=904&nav=&) PODCAST!!!- feed://www.outfarpress.com/podcast.xml  (160kb Highest Quality) NEW ARTICLE about the Shortwave Report in the Boulder Weekly by Gavin Dahl-http://npaper-wehaa.com/boulder-weekly/2015/03/26/#?article=2478097 links for this week's edition- <  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr180706.mp3  > (33 MB) HIGHEST QUALITY<  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr_07_06_18.mp3   > (13 MB) Broadcast Quality<  http://www.outfarpress.com/swr_07_06_18_24.mp3  > (6 MB) Slow Modem streamingWebsite Page- < http://www.outfarpress.com/shortwave.shtml >       ¡FurthuR!      Dan Roberts "I say openly that I am an anti-war person, with the point being, show me some reason not to be against this war. You have to be sort of asleep at the switch not to be critical of it. And the parallel between one quagmire we went through in Vietnam and the one we're in now is clear for everybody to see."--Sy Hersh Dan RobertsShortwave Report- www.outfarpress.comYouthSpeaksOut!- www.youthspeaksout.net
