In April 2016, two nooses were found at Dominion's under construction gas export terminal at Cove Point in Calvert County, MD. In November 2016 two more nooses were found. On Dec 7 a fifth noose was found. This construction site became infamous when it began for importing most of their labor from Texas. The finding of nooses always raises the question of KKK involvment. The question is whether we are talking about the Texas Klan or a KKK chapter active in southern MD.
On the evening of 28th of November, the Park Service set up the usual barricades and flashing lights indicating preparatons to shoot deer. By a little after 9PM they disappeared, protesters having threatened to deploy. The Park Service had warned people to be off the trails by 8PM on both Monday and Tuesday nights. They were expected to try again Tuesday, Nov 29 but once again did not show up. Protesters were there instead, and had announced they were coming. It had rained earlier too but the rain had stopped, fog was forecast.

On the 23ed of October, the "Take Back Democracy March on DC" condemned Hillary Clinton for rigging the Democratic primaries to defeat Bernie Sanders. The majority of the march appeared to support Green Party candidate Jill Stein as an alternative to a ballot they say is rigged by controlling both sides.As always seems to be the case these days, the street in front of the White House was closed when the march arrived there. Later on, the march went past a parked Trump campaign van to the sound of booing marchers and then the van's car alarm.

On the 13th of October, Black Lives Matter activists, some of them by motorcade, showed up at the US Attorney's office on 4th st NW demanding that the "special police" who killed Alonzo Smith in the Marbury Plaza apartments be prosecuted for murder.Just hours after this protest, the US attorney's office insulting announced that the "special police" security guards who murdered Alonzo will not be prosecuted on any charges whatsoever.
On the 13th of October, the mainstream press was buzzing about the five women who have come forward to declare that they were sexually assaulted by Donald Trump. On that same day, hundreds picketed Trump's brand new luxury hotel in DC over yet another crime by Donald Trump: his flat refusal to honor the outcome of an election by workers at his Las Vegas hotel to seek union representation.At the Oct 13 picket, UNITE HERE called for a boycott of Trump's Old Post Office Hotel over his defiance of labor laws requiring him to recognize the result of the election at the Las Vegas hotel he owns.
On the 5th of October,the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit held a hearing on the tribe's request for an injunction against construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline during the appeal process of previous decisions. The builders of this pipeline have a record of trying to finish as much construction as possible before court cases can be heard. After the Oct 5 hearing.
On the 22nd of September, outraged "representatives" of Spectra Energy were kicked out of the monthly meeting of FERC for whining about the possibility of a “stop work order” on Spectra’s Algonquin Incremental Market (AIM) pipeline project.The AIM Pipeline is a 42-inch-diameter, high-pressure, fracked gas pipeline, which, if completed, will run through residential communities in Westchester, New York, and within 105 feet of critical Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant safety facilities.

On the 1st of September, Fox 5 News broadcast one of their incessant "crime news" stories, this one about a shooting in DC. FOX went well beyond covering this young man's death, they went into his neighborhood seeking anyone who they could induce to say on camera that they wanted the incoming police chief to bring back "plainclothes vice squads." These squads are known as "jump-outs" and are infamous for stopping and forcibly searching all young African-American males on a block if any crime by anyone is observed.
On the 21st of August, plainclothes security guards forcibly removed a number of animal rights activists from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception after they began a "vegan outreach" protest/speakout. As soon as they got outside the door they became violent enough to inflict bruises, knocking down the activist using the camera. The camera stopped when it hit the ground.
Early AM on Sun, August 21, the entire area of K and L streets between N Cap st and 1st st NE was overrrun with cops while transgender sex workers were forced to move east to a temporary area to meet their clients. Presumably their clients knew to check further east if the normal area was overrun with pigs, as this is the direction cops have been pushing them since condos took over the old 5th and K area.
Update August 6: A/C still not working 4 days after contractors worked on it in front of protesters-they need to finish the job!On the 14th of July, "LT" Leslie Irby died from the effects of extreme heat in the DC Jail. The air conditioning system has been broken since before that time and inmates have reported temperatures as high as 100F in their cells. On the 3rd of August, Cease Fire: Don’t Smoke the Brothers and Sisters led a march on and around the jail demanding repairs and an end to the baking hot cells.
Over the weekend of July 9-10, DC Stampede and Tidewater Earth First! combined forces to protest at the homes of three executives of Skanska USA ijn Virginia. There is a report that police used a pretext traffic stop against one of the activist cars to bully and intimidate the passengers in the car demanding personal information.
On the the 8th of July, the DC Bike Party took to the streets once again, now having been in existance for four years. Although not the largest ever, this was a very large bike party of hundreds of riders. President Obama has explicitly said he will not permit the Democratic Party platform to take a position against the TPP trade deal. In response, on the 7th of July fair trade protesters showed up at the offices of Representative Elijah Cummins, who chairs the Democratic Party's platform committee. Elijah Cummins has said before he opposes the TPP and has repeatedly voted against TPP related bills including Obama's treasured "fast-track" bill last year.
