Trump's ICE raids end in humiliating defeat

On the 23ed of July, ICE announced that their repeatedly-delayed "family operation" had netted only 35 arrests (and only 18 from the target list) out of 2,100 people listed as targets. Trump had threatened "millions" would be rounded up and sent to ICE's concentration camps. His own tweets though stirred up a firestorm of interference and direct action, and the "family operation" ended as a humiliating defeat for Trump

Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló Resigns

Washington DC - Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló resigned Wednesday. Protests engulfed the island for nearly two weeks after Rosselló drew criticism for offensive language in leaked communications and the FBI arrested former members of his administration on corruption charges."The people of Puerto Rico reached a boiling point in recent weeks.

Mueller's testimony draws Kremlin Annex protesters to White House

In recent months Wednesdays have not normally been one of the days the Kremlin Annex/impeachment protesters are in front of the White House, but with much of the US riveted on Mueller's testimony before Congress, they made a special appearance on July 24. About halfway through the protest, the SS closed Penn Ave-and the Park Police then told them they could not protest in Lafayette Sq either for lack of a different permit.

Extinction Rebellion blockades Capitol Hill tunnels with superglued protests

On the 23rd of July, with the the Sanders/Cortez climate emergency resolution going nowhere, Extinction Rebellion returned to Capitol Hill. Multiple teams converged on the tunnels connection House office buildings to the US Capitol. They arrived all at once and as the commotion started it quickly became clear that protesters had superglued themselves across the access doors to at least one tunnel. There were 17 reported arrests (prior report was 16), but the blockades held for over two hours.

Credit Suisse Banker Pleads Guilty in Mozambique Loan Scandal

Washington DC - On Friday, former Credit Suisse banker Andrew Pearse pled guilty in US Federal Court for accepting millions of dollars in a fraud scheme that led to a $2 billion Mozambique loan scandal and debt crisis in the East African country. Pearse and six others are accused of taking $200 million in the scheme.“Mozambique, one of the poorest countries in the world, is dealing with a financial crisis because of the greed of corrupt bankers," said United Nations corruption and finance expert Eric LeCompte and Executive Director of the religious development group Jubilee USA Network.

Opponents of W Va Rockwool plant erect mock factory inside Lowes

On the 20th of July, residents of W Va, Virginia, Maryland, and DC opposing Rockwool's planned factory in W Virigina built a mock Rockwool factory inside the Lowes hardware store in Gaithersburg. The mock plant was built from Rockwool's own product and was no more welcome there than the real one is in W Va across from an elementary school.

Beyond Extreme Energy protests fracked gas export facilities at FERC's monthly meeting

On the 18th of January, Beyond Extreme Energy showed up outside FERC, the Federal Energy "Regulatory" Agency. They were there to demand that possibly retiring FERC commissioner Cherly Lefleur vote against all proposed fracked gas export facilities-and against Canadian and other foreign pipeline companies using eminent domain for private gain against US residents.

Protesters invoking "Never Again" surround, blockade and enter ICE headquarters

On the 16th of July, protesters from Never Again Action, Jews against ICE, and Movimiento Cosecha blocked every dooryway into ICE headquarters on 12th street and the streets outside. In addition, 12 protesters entered the building and reportedly were the only protesters arrested in this day of direct action against ICE and concentration camps. Jewish activists explicitly tied Trump's concentration camps to those used by the Nazis during WWII, using talking points like "Never Again means NOW!"

Amazon's contract with Palantir/ICE earns Jeff Bezos a protest at his HOUSE

On Amazon Prime Day the 16th of July, protesters descended on the home of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. They carried mock Amazon Prime delivery boxes loaded with petitions demanding Amazon drop their DHS/Palantir contract which has caused thousands of deportations. The petition boxes changed Amazon's smile to a well-earned frown.
