No Justice No Pride marches at dusk against corporate/assimilationist Pride

On the evening of the 9th of June, No Justice No Pride opened the mobilization against corporate/assimilationist fake Pride with an evening march through some of the most yuppified streets in DC's GLBTQ community. A highlight of the march was a solidarity stop at Matchbox, a pizzaria being picketed by some of their workers because they fire people who object to problem working conditions.

No Justice No Pride is demanding that Capitol Pride end corporate sponsorship, rebuild the organizing committee to replace mostly white cisgendered male leadership, and evict the police from the march.Corporate sponsors have been an issue for years, especially Wells Fargo, which is infamous for funding private prisons via the Geo Group. Transgender inmates are routinely abused in these prisons. This year another issue with Wells Fargo is their sponsorship of both the DAPL and Keystone XL pipelines. This is especially offensive to Indigenous/Two Spirit folks who are directly affected by this assault on Indigenous people as a whole. As for the police, they want to march in a celebration of the 1969 Stonewall Riot, while seeking to imprison 209 DisruptJ20 defendants for up to 80 years on charges of rioting. That is rank hypocrisy.
