Dear Radio Friend,     This week's show features stories from Radio Deutsche-Welle, Sputnik Radio, and Radio Havana Cuba.http://www.outfarpress.com/swr190215.mp3        From GERMANY- In Spain, Parliament rejected Prime Minister Sanchez's budget, which will likely lead to a new election. The right-wing in the country is growing in numbers and strength and held a large rally in Madrid. Meanwhile 12 Catalonian government ministers who led the 2017 referendum for independence from Spain are being tried in court for rebellion and sedition- it is being called the trial of the century and if convicted they are facing decades in prison. In Venezuela, the self-proclaimed president Guiado is attempting to take control of the state's oil company. The US and Israel are holding a conference in Poland to push anti-Iranian sentiment but France and Germany declined an invitation.        From RUSSIA- Afshin Rattansi interviewed professor Hamed Mousavi of the University of Tehran on the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Iranian revolution. It begins with some history of the country including the US/UK coup in 1953, which gave the western powers each 40% of oil revenues. After the 1979 revolution the US supported Iraq and Saddam Hussein in a failed attempt to overthrow the new government. They discuss the social improvements since the revolution and who suffers under sanctions. They also compare the situation developing in Venezuela.        From CUBA- In France the Yellow Vests protests continued for a 13th week. In Syria at least 70 civilians were killed by US led bombing raids. In Brazil there are demonstrations in support of former President Lula da Silva. Social movements and unions in Canada have condemned their governments support of the self-proclaimed interim president of Venezuela. The foreign ministry of China called out the Wall Street Journal for printing fake news about an alleged meeting with Guiado. President Maduro called out Trump for creating a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela to justify military intervention.
