We are Cove Point blockades Solomons pier construction site, 7 arrests

On the 1st of December, two residents of Lusby, MD and 5 supporters were arrested in Solomons, MD blocking the gate of Dominion's "offsite B" construction site. Dominion's mostly Texan workforce is scrambling to complete this pier before a Dec 16 moratorium on construction in the water that lasts until mid-March. The Solomons pier is intended for loading "megaloads" from barges onto trucks to travel to Dominion's fracked gas export site at Cove Point, MD.

On Dec 1, activists blocking the gate suceeded in preventing Dominion's mostly Texan workforce from entering the pier construction site, which was at least the 4th time a civil disobediance has disrupted work there. If Dominio misses that Dec 15 deadline, protesters will have earned some of the credit. The We Are Cove Point website said the 7 blockaders were arrested by Dominion's private police force. Apparently if this police force left Dominon property with arrestees, their jurisdiction over the arrestees would end, so they had to wait over an hour for the Dept of Corrections to send a transport wagon

At 4PM, We are Cove Point set up on Route 4 with a banner to educate passing motorists about Dominion's plans to export fracked gas out of Calvert County
