Skanska exec Stephen Skinnder gets U-Wa vivisection lab demo

Skanska is a massive multinational construction company that is building a new animal "research" lab for University of Washington. On the morning of Saturday, November 14, activists from the No New Animal Lab campaign showed up at the Stanton, Va home of Stephen Skinner, Executive VP and General Manager of Skanska’s DC office. Grumpy neighbors responded with angry counter-chants while calling the cops and even trying to directly disrupt the protest. Stephen Skinner was caught at home, stepping outside only long enough to stick his "no tresspassing" sign in the lawn.

Vivisection protesters descend on Skanska office, homes over U-Wa lab contract

Skanska is one of the largest construction companies on Earth. Skanska USA has a $90M contract with University of Washington to build an underground primate research laboratory that may also be used against other animals. On the 30th of October anti-vivisection protesters showed up in front of their Arlington, VA office. That evening two Skanska executives received protests at their homes. This was part of the continent-wide #HauntSkanska campaign, which in turn is part of the No New Animal Lab campaign against University of Washington's under construction vivisection lab.

Va governor confronted at energy event by anti gas pipeline activists

On the 21st of September, activists from a number of pro-Earth, anti-fracking groups disrupted an appearance by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe at the Biennial Natural Resources and Energy Law Symposium with a custom-written peom. This occurred just before the "Natural Gas Pipelines"panel featuring a representative from Dominion and three days after Dominion formally filed for FERC to rubberstamp approval for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. This pipeline will desecrate a Native American burial ground and transport fracked gas from the Marcellus shale region.

No New Animal Lab protests Skanska office in Rosslyn

The University of Washington has employed the multinational construction firm Skanska to build an underground vivisection laboratory for them. Underground it will be out of sight and armored against attack. The global No New Animal Lab campaign is mounting a pressure campaign to force Skanska to drop their contract and halt contruction of this torture chamber. On September 9, they showed up in front of Skanska's offices in Rosslyn, Virginia with signs and bullhorns for a noisy and graphic protest.

Bunny Alliance protests Delta's vivisection flights at National Airport

Delta Airlines has a "strategic partnership" with Air France, one of the few remaining airlines that will fly monkeys and other animals to vivisction labs for a life of torture. Due to the partnership, some of the animals fly on Delta's planes. On the 3ed of August, the Bunny Alliance deployed from the Animal Rights 2015 convention to National Airport to demand Delta stop flying animals to labs and demand the same of Air France. On the same day, Delta announced they will no longer fly dead animals for trophy hunters in response to the lion who was killed by an American poacher. The Bunny Alliance asks that the same courtesy also be extended to live animals.

Neighbors of Skanska VP get home visits from No New Animal Lab campaign

Stephen Skinner is Executive VP and General Managert of the building division of Skanska. Skanska is the construction company currently attempting to build a new underground primate vivisection lab at University of Washington. On the 1st of August, animal rights activists took time off from the Animal Rights 2015 convention to canvass Stephen Skinner's neighbors. Fliers went out and neighbors who cared were asked to sign letters requesting that Mr Skinner use his position to halt construction of the underground monkey torture dungeon now being built at Univerity of Washington.

Bicycle racers take to streets of Clarendon, VA

On the 13th of June, the Clarendon Cup bicycle race was once again held on a a very tight course laid out on the streets of downtown Clarendon. The winning team and rider were sponsored by United Health Care, notorious for removing all dental coverage from their "community" or Medicaid plan. The race itself was sponsored by the US Air Force, known for guzzling jet fuel. In spite of all that, the annual Clarendon Cup is a spectacular bike race including pro teams, some of which also ride in the Tour de France.

Anti pipeline/fracking activists protest Dominon's shareholder meeting

On the 6th of May, protesters opposing the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Cove Point fracked gas export plant showed up outside Dominion's shareholder meeeting. The Atlantic Coast Pipeline, a Dominion project, would carry fracked gas, possibly for export. The route passes through Native American burial grounds as well as communities from which some of the protesters came. Other protesters came from Lusby, MD near the Dominion's old LNG plant at Cove Point, which is being converted and enlarged for fracked gas export.

Protesters show at at Patriot Center Ringlings circus performance

On the evening of April 11th, the protesters who have dogged appearances of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey circus showed up at George Mason University's Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. Attendance at the circus was down. Protesters suspect Ringling's announcement that the elephants are going to be retired is due to shrinking attendance. All the animals, elephants included, were on stage at the Patriot Center. Outside, an unknown large man opposing the protest tried and failed to intimidate a woman out of distributing leaflets. A second protester intervened and that man decided to back away.

DC Stampede protest Skanska's involvement in U-WA vivisection lab

On the 6th of February, activists from DC Stampede showed up a the Virginia offices of Skanska. Skanska calls themselves a "world leading project development and construction group." Skanska has a contract to build a new, $123 million "Animal Research and Care Facility," meaning a vivisection lab at University of Washington. Dogs, cats, primates, and other animals will be imprisoned there until they are tortured to death in the same of "science." Two protests were held on Feb 6: At about 9AM, nine activists got inside the building and managed to create enough disruption to close the 2nd floor of the building. Cops were stationed outside all day after that, yet activists returned in the afternoon for a round of leafleting.
