Muslim activists demand community boycott Obama's political iftar dinner over Gitmo, Gaza, and domestic spying

On the 14th of July, Obama held an Iftar, the ceremonial dinner at the conclusion of the day's Ramadan fasting by area Muslims. A number of Muslim groups including the American Arab Anti-Discrimination league refused to attend and called for a boycott, instead protesting out front. They were opposing US aid to Israel's assault on Gaza, the continuing existence of Guantanimo Bay, mass incarceration and domestic spying in the US targeting Muslims and people of color in the US.

Independent Journalist stopped and frisked at Gaza/Israeli Embassy protest

On Friday, the 11th of July. protesters gathered at the Embassy of Israel to demand and end to the raid of Israeli rockets and bombs on the Gaza Strip, The cops had protest pens set up, George W Bush Memorial Freedom Fence. One independent journalist was detained by Secret Service for standing on the sidewalk on the Israeli Embassy side of the street to shoot pictures.

Code Pink Demonstration at the Egyptian Defense Office to protest the unjust sentencing of Al Jazeera Journalists and 183 Egyptians Sentenced to Death, and Call for an End to US Military Aid to Egypt .

 On Monday, June 23, an Egyptian court convicted three Al Jazeera journalists of “aiding the Muslim Brotherhood,” sentencing two of them to seven years in prison and one to ten years!! Just a few days earlier, 183 Egyptians were sentenced to death for simply being allegedly affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Dueling protests at the White House over new Iraq intervention

On the 21st of June, antiwar protesters showed up at the White House for the 2nd time in 6 days, demanding that Obama cancel plans new US intervention in Iraq. There were also opposing protesters who appeared to be Iraqi Shiites, the group fighting against ISIS. Organizers said they wanted intelligence sharing and arms, not occupation troops, but at least one of them claimed troops would not occupy the country.

On the 16th of June, Code Pink staged a protest in front of Obama's White House featuring "John McCain" and demanding that Obama not listen to McCain's warmongering over Iraq.

Drone protest closes CIA gate as renewed US War in Iraq looms

On the 14th of June, antiwar protesters showed up at the CIA's Dolly Madison Ave entrance as drone flights over Iraq began anew. As usual, the CIA shut down the entrance due to the presence of the protesters. They have been there the second Saturday of every month since November 2012 demanding an end to the use of armed drones for assasination and bombing. Now, Obama is making menacing speeches about returning to combat in Iraq, but somehow doing it without ground troops.

Obama threatens US return to Iraq as Isis marches on Baghdad

On the 12th of June, Isis, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria marched towards Baghdad after taking several of the country's largest cities. In response, President Obama has threatened to return the US to the war.

Antiwar activists protest smear campaign against former POW Bowe Bergdahl

On the 10th of June, members of multiple antiwar groups and a Muslim advocacy group showed up in front of the White House to welcome former POW Bowe Bergdahl's release, the release of 5 detainees from Gitmo, and condemn the vicious smear campaign the GOP has been mounting against Bowe. One speaker condemned using a POW for a "political football."
