Elders target big banks over climate change with rocking chair protests

On the 21st of March, elders backed by a few younger supporters picketed four climate-destroying banks by sitting in rocking chairs in front of their branches. Some of the protesters said they were doing this for their grandchildren. The "Third Act" coalition is demanding big banks get out of investments in fossil fuels.

On the 18th of March, on Metrobus stops spread out all over DC, corporate ads were replaced with posters hammering Washington Gas. The posters placed by unknown activists slammed gas stoves and gas in the house for causing health problems, burning down the climate, and charging everyone for the "privilige" of doing do.

On Sunday, the 19th of February, Supreme Court "Justice" Alito get yet another protest at his northern VA home. Protesters emphasized that he stands for theocracy and is a threat to the lives of trans folks as well as his infamous authorship of the antiabortion Dobbs ruling

On the 16th of February, Texas and West Louisiana residents threatened by LNG projects and pipelines showed up at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). FERC is infamous as the oil and gas industry's rubber stamp, and is now planning to allow Freeport LNG to restart their Texas LNG export facility that exploded less than a year ago in June 2022.

Eight months after the leak of the Dobbs decision, protesters are still showing up at the homes of antiabortion/Christian nationalist Supreme Court "Justices." One of these protests took place on Jan 29, 2023. In addition to abortion rights chants, protesters also invoked the name of Tyre Nichols, beaten and tortured to death by murderous Memphis cops.

On the 18th of January, police assaulting the Atlanta Forest Defense/Stop Cop City treesits shot and killed forest defender "Tortuguita" or "Tort." He was murdered after a cop was shot by another cop in a blue-on-blue "friendly fire" incident. Since then vigils have been held across Turtle Island. One of them drew an estimated 50-75 people to Malcolm X Park here in DC on Jan 24.
