Breaking: DC lifts stay-at-home order, restaurant workers get "back to work" order

At 12:01AM on Friday, Mayor 29, Mayor Bowser lifted DC's stay-at-home order, theoretically removing the power of police to arrest people in disfavored neighborhoods for just for being away from their homes. For those in neighborhoods where police have not used the stay-at-home for harassment, the main change is "back to work" orders for those working in a long line of businesses not deemed "essential" by government.

ROC-DC raises concerns restaurant workers may be ordered NOT to wear masks after DC reopening

It's official: many DC residents get their "back to work order" on Friday, May 29. Restaurants will be permitted to serve patrons outdoors. ROC-DC is raising concerns that owners will demand that "front-of-house" workers remove protective face masks for appearance reasons. In other words, a restaurant dinner with a side order of COVID-19 might be deemed an acceptable price of looking normal and higher profits.

Suspicious police activity at Franklin Sq homeless camp as DC prepares to reopen

On the 26th of May, several police cars and cops entered the homeless camp at Franklin Square, apparently for the second day in a row. This time around it was US Park Police, there is a report on Twitter showing MPD and National Guard at the same location the previous day. So far not an all-out eviction, exact nature of activity unclear.

Code Pink motorcades from White House to Cuban Embassy demanding "Healthcare not Warfare"

On the 25th of May, Code Pink held a mixed march/motorcade from the White House to the Embassy of Cuba demanding the redirection of war funding to healthcare, and an end to the harassment of nations accepting Cuba's doctors. The Pentagon's weapons are simply not effective in a "war" against a virus, while Cuba's physicians are.
