Funeral March on ICE remembers those who died in detention centers

On the 1st of November, Detention Watch Network and other advocates for migrants held a funeral march from the White House past Customs and Border Patrol to the headquarters of ICE, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. In all of 2016, 11 people have died in ICE detention centers and private prisons paid for by ICE. Since 2003 165 people have died in these inhuman dungeons. Even as the Dept of Justice is phasing out private prisons ICE is racing to sign more contracts.

Demands of the march include an immediate review of the 11 deaths in custody this year, with publication of the results by Jan 31. Marchers also are demanding the immediate closure of La Salle Detention Center, where three people have died just this year.
