BLM marches in wake of Thursday's kettle keep huge number of cops busy
On Saturday, the 15th of August, the usual pair of BLM marchews from Malcolm X Park and Dupont circle took to the streets in spite of rain and the kettle just two days earlier. Very large numbers of cops shadowed the marches and tension grew between these pigs and the They/Them march out of Dupont. Of course, all those cops were effectively taken off the street for the rest of the city.
One of the marches went to far as to include the 3D police station on the target list, the same place allegedly targetted by the Thursday night march that ended in police violence, at least the city's sixth illegal mass arrest, and mostly no-papered cases. Forcing cops to focus on defending their own headquarters as well as following protesters for hours on end is a very effective way to keep them OUT of the neighborhoods and could easily prevent more arrests across the city than the total number of arrests at the kettle. Thus, Thursday's march while very expensive has proven to be a strategic victory, by renewing the ability of protesters to basically handcuff the police department to the White House and to their marches.
