Embassy of Japan gets protest against funding for coal projects

On Oct 4, protesters showed up at the Embassy of Japan, demanding the new Prime Minister put a stop to recent increases in funding for coal projects outside the country.

In the wake of the decision to (quite sensibly) eject most nuclear power from Japan, that country has increased its funding for coal projects globally as part of an effort to transition off nuclear on the cheap, using coal. Japan is an island and could lose much of their arable land and cities to sea level rise from global warming. Wealthy industrialists of course are still trying to get permission to restart many of Japan's idled nuclear reactors, and no doubt they want the coal too.
