Five dead as fascists storm US Capitol, forcibly delay confirmation of Trump's defeat

On the 6th of January, Trumpers, fascists, and Proud Boys fought their way through 4 layers of police fencing, fought the Capitol Police to the point of blood on the Capitol steps, and pierced through the police defenses. They broke a window, maced the cops, and stormed the US Capitol itself, forcibly delaying the vote to confirm Biden's victory over Trump in the 2020 election.

Update Jan 7: A wounded US Capitol Police officer has died in the hospital, raising the death toll to 5.

Proud Boys assault police line in failed attempt to storm Black Lives Matter Plaza

Late night on the 5th of January, the Proud Boys marched in force on Black Lives Matter Plaza. They got nearly to the plaza itself before being stopped by an MPD police line. They attempted to charge through by force and failed. One may have gotten onto the plaza before being arrested. So much for "Back the Blue!"

MAGAt rally speaker invokes Normandy while Fascists harass BLM Plaza

On January 5, Trump supporters rallied on Freedom Plaza. At one point, a speaker told people to hug each other, thinking it was sarcastic to call it a "superspreader event." Another speaker made an incredibly offensive comparison to Normany (D-Day) while fascists and Proud Boys harassed the defenders of Black Lives Matter Plaza. Meanwhile two more fascists were arrested for carrying guns.

"City under siege" feel as buildings stay boarded up over fears of MAGAt violence

As 2020 draws to an end, many buildings downtown remain boarded up. For all the city government's begging building owners to remove the boards, the recent bouts of MAGA/Proud Boys violence and fears of Inauguration street battles are keeping the boards up, and more buildings have boarded up since the brutal Dec 12 MAGA/Proud Boys mess.

Religious Leaders Press Congress on Puerto Rico Relief, Jobs and Child Poverty

As Congress negotiates a coronavirus stimulus bill, Puerto Rico and US religious leaders met with Congress leaders on job creation, disaster relief and food benefits for Puerto Rico."Nearly 60% of our children, US citizens, live in poverty in Puerto Rico. Our children are in vital need of Congressional action. The suffering our children face from the high level of poverty, the recurring natural disasters and now COVID-19, can only be described as tragic," wrote leaders of Puerto Rico Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Christian (Disciples) and Evangelical Churches to Congress over the summer.
