On the 12th of October, the DC Bike Party took to the streets for the annual pre-Halloween "Angels and Demons" ride.

The 14th of September featured another DC Bike Party, this time on a route including Memorial Bridge into Virginia and back. As always hundreds of riders showed up. The DC Bike Parties are once again on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

July Critical Mass reportback

A hot night did not deter DC's Critical Mass bike ride from returning to the streets on July 29, the last Friday of the month. These rides are basically social rides these days, departing from Dupont Circle at shortly after 8PM.

On the the 8th of July, the DC Bike Party took to the streets once again, now having been in existance for four years. Although not the largest ever, this was a very large bike party of hundreds of riders. This was also roughly the 4th anniversary of the first DC Bike Party In this ride, a few riders wore signs saying things like "Black Lives Matter" and "Disarm the police."

Critical Mass reportback for June

Critical Mass bike rides still take place here in DC, currently on the last Friday of every month.

The June ride took to the streets about a half hour later than usual to give riders time to assemble after a heavy rainstorm passed through, then set out at about 8:30PM with somewhere around 50 riders.

Special DC Bike Party rides for Capitol Pride

The Wed, June 8 DC Bike Party was an official part of DC's "Capitol Pride" GBLTQ Pride Week. Despite having been rescheduled from the previous Friday over thunderstorms, hundreds of bicycle riders turned out.

First DC bike Party of the year takes to the streets

On the 8th of April, the first DC Bike Party of the year headed out at a special date and time. The ride had been scheduled to go to the cherry blossoms, but they opened and were gone early this year, ahead of the ride. The DC Bike Parties are large social bike rides that can attact up to 600 riders. Most are on the second Wednesdays of the warmer months but some are on specially chosen days. All depart from Dupont Circle shortly after 8PM.

Cannabis legalization activists carry 51 foot "joint" to White House

On the 2nd of April, activists demanding that cannabis (marijuana) be removed from the DEA's "Schedule 1" classification marched on the White House carrying a 51 foot long mock joint. At the White House, cops claimed it was a "security threat" and it had to be carried back out. Activists then proceeded to defy the still-actve Federal ban on smoking pot on Federal government owned land. Two tickets were issued but there are no reports of actual arrests.

DC Bike Party reportback for December

On the 9th of December, the DC Bike Party took to the streets once again. Unlike last year, the Bike Parties have continued into winter, normally on the second Wednesdays of each month excepting special events. Although not as many people ride in winter rides as summer, energy was high and this was still a large and festive group ride.
