No Justice No Pride rallies for sex work decriminalization
The 28th of June was the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in NYC, in which a police vice squad assault on a gay bar was repelled by force. On June 28, 2019 No Justice No Pride acted in the spirit of this uprising to demand the DC Council pass a bill to decriminalize sex work. One group went in en masse to deliver petitions while others waited outside. One sex worker testified at the rally that the police were comparable to the worst of bad johns.
There is also the incredible hypocrisy of those members of the City Council who advocate sending sex workers to jail and prison while they and their political class have been known as almost always being customers since time immemorial.
