Undercover cop at DC Ferguson protests outed

On the 20th of January, Untold Carslyle published this photo of an undercover cop that has been seen around most or all of the DC Ferguson protests. Looks like we've just caught another "Missy," the undercover cop who was caught by DC activists in 2013 because she had a big mouth on Twitter.

Reclaim MLK march shuts down Chinatown, marches on DOJ over police brutality

On the 19th of January,a Reclaim MLK March set out from the White House for the Department of Justice. More than once it was called the Department of Injustice for failing to investigate the continuing police murders of mostly African-American youth. On the way, the march shut down streets, focussing on Chinatown. The mother of a man killed by Montgomery County, MD police spoke out as a classic DC Ferguson square blockaded 7th and H by the Chinatown arch.

Cops hold counterprotest against Ferguson/Civil rights movement

On the 17th of January, during the MLK holiday weekend, cops in DC held what was effectively a counterprotest against DC Ferguson and the rest of the new civil rights movement. Their "sea of blue" march featured some participants looking like motorcycle gang members, and speakers advocating an "us vs them" approach to policing. This can be considered a protest in favor of police shooting people who don't "show the proper attitude" and in favor of jump-outs and Stop and Frisk style policing, given the context.Especially galling was the large number of participants wearing clothing calling themselves "peacemakers" when police misconduct has triggered more civil unrest than any other issue in many years.

DC Ferguson shuts down AM Rush Hour traffic on MLK's actual birthday

The 15th of January is Martin Luther King's actual birthday. On that day in 2015, DC Ferguson marched into AM rush hour traffic and shut it down for many blocks in all directions of the protest. Police redirection of traffic greatly magnified the impact by closing off large sections of streets containing protesters, far beyond the protest itself. Police, security guards, and vigiliantes are still shooting another African-American every 28 hours. DC police are still using jump-outs to intimidate Black youth into submitting to illegal searches. Therefore, DC Ferguson is still "shutting shit down," saying no justice means no business as usual!

Saudi Flogging for Blogging Demonstration

Code Pink joined Saudi human rights activist Ali Al-Ahmed of the Gulf Institute in front of the Saudi Arabian embassy in Washington DC to protest the US's continued support for the regime despite continuing egregious human rights abuses, including the ongoing flogging of Saudi blogger Raid Badawi for questioning the role of religion in supporting the Saudi regime.

Al-Ahmed reports that Saudi Arabia flogs three thousand prisoners daily, as well as carrying out daily beheadings.

Police brutality protesters occupy lobby of DC Police headquarters

On the 12th of January, both Ferguson protesters and Guantanimo Bay protesters joined forces to occupy the lobby of DC Police (MPD) headquarters for just over 28 minutes. The 28 minutes symbolized the fact that every 28 hours a Black man, woman, or child is killed by police, security guards, or vigilantes in the US. The occupation was tense but no arrests were made.

Die-In protest at Wheaton Plaza against killer cops, two snatch squad arrests after

On New Year's Day 2015, civil rights activists held a die-in at Wheaton Plaza protesting the continuing police violence and murder against African-Americans. Police have shot two DC residents just in the past couple weeks, and have even shot at protesters in Ferguson. Black lives still matter, and until the cops get that straight organizers warn these protests can pop up anytime, anywhere.

Washington "Moon-Times" claims DC cops spent $3M because of Ferguson protests

The Unification Church(Rev Moon)-controlled Washington Times is claiming that DC Police have spent $3M because of the DC Ferguson protests. I can say from personal experience that this consists of following DC Ferguson protests through the streets and redirecting traffic to isolate protests. Perhaps police chief Cathy Lanier should think of this as a $3M fine against the DC Police for violating the rights of African-American city residents with jump-out tactics and illegal searches stemming from them.
