Muslims, DC Ferguson protest hypocritical "countering violent extremism" summit

On the 18th of February, Obama began his "countering violent extremism" summit, which is mostly an event to coordinate police efforts to spy on and infiltrate Muslim communities. Outside, both Muslims and DC Ferguson activists called out this event for hypocrisy. The US itself was called out for the drone strikes used for extra-judicial executions throughout the Muslim world. This was compared to the routine and never punished street executions of African-Americans by killer cops, often by jump-outs in DC. Lastly everyone was reminded that the profile of almost every terrorist in the US has been an angry, armed white male. This includes last week's murder of three Muslims by a terrorist in North Carolina. No doubt Obama's summit will pay little attention to the ongoing drumbeat of mass murders by angry white men in the US.

DC Ferguson condemns lack of Federal charges for DC cops who killed Ralphael Briscoe

On the 16th of February, DC Ferguson released a statement condemning the refusal of a Federal jury to hold DC cops even civally liable for the murder of Ralphael Briscoe during a "jump-out" attack by the police. Once again there is no justice for those murdered by the police, just the people. DC Ferguson has also called for a rally and march on Sunday, Feb 22 at 6PM starting at the Congress Heights Metro station. This protest will march to the 7th district police station.

DC area Muslims remember 3 students murdered at Chapel Hill, NC

On the 12th of February, hundreds of people, mostly DC area Muslims, came together to remember three young Muslim students murdered in an apartment near Chapel Hill, Univ of North Carolina. Speakers at the Dupont Circle vigil included several people who knew them. There is considerable suspicion that the three young students were murdered because of their faith. The makes the Chapel Hill shootings a hate crime and an act of domestic terrorism.

Mock arrest of Darren Wilson after Dept of Justice refuses civil rights charges

On the 26th of January, the weekly Monday vigil for those murdered by police featured Code Pink staging a mock arrest of Darren Wilson while speakers condemned the so-called Dept of Justice for refusing to recommend civil rights charges be filed against him. Darren Wilson is the killer cop who gunned down Michael Brown in Ferguson. Now he is among the world's most wanted fugitives, he can't even go to 7-11 to buy a pack of skittles without fearing arrest not by the government but by the people.

Black Lives Matter rally and march in Silver Spring

On the 24th of January, civil rights protesters showed up in Silver Spring, MD next to the outdoor skating rink by the Civic Center. Although this small group was entirely peaceful, heavily armored Montgomery County cops and three cop cars lurked about a block back watching. The music at the skating rink was gradually turned up in an attempt to override the rally speakers and their megaphone. The rally was very visible to all those using the skating rink, and educational in an unexpected place. It was followed by a short march through downtown Silver Spring.
