Standing Rock:New camp blocks route, pepper spray and rubber bullets used, water protector's drone shot down

The situation at Standing Rock has escalated again. On the 24th of October, a new #NoDAPL camp was set up directly across the route of the pipeline. The tribe has claimed the land under eminent domain and an 1851 treaty, using one of the pipeline builder's own tactics against them in doing so. The police have responded with rubber bullets and pepper spray in an attempt to break this new front line.

Uber Driver tries to push through Black Lives Matter/Terrence Sterling Protest on NY Ave

Monday the 17th of October marked 6 weeks since MPD shot Terrence Sterling dead for "erratic driving" on his motorcycle. It was also the 4th Monday in a row protesters shut down NY Ave just yards from where he was killed. This time around, there was plenty of "erratic driving" by an Uber driver pushing into protesters and a few other motorists squeezing through narrow gaps. Unlike what happened to Terrence Sterling, police did not respond by rolling down their windows and shooting the drivers.

Felony charges with 45 year sentence filed for videotaping tar sands pipeline shutdown

In a chilling development, prosecutors have filed major felony charges whose maxiumums total 45 years in prison against journalist Deia Schlosberg for filming the direct action that shut down all five pipelines bringing tars sands "oil" into the US on October 11. This is an extreme provocation by prosecutors, who seem to be begging the global movement against extreme extraction to escalate even further.

DC Standing Rock Solidarity holds protest of genocide after Colombus wreath laying

On Oct 10, 2016, or"Columbus Day" the embassies of Spain and Italy laid wreaths at the Union Station monument to that genocidal madman who washed up half-drowned on the shores of Turtle Island over 500 years ago. Two days after that ugly wreath-laying, DC Standing Rock Solidarity held a ceremony of their own at the same spot. The focus of the Oct 12 ceremoney was indigenous solidarity and resistance to ongoing acts of colonialist aggression, especially the Dakota Access Pipeline aka the Black Snake.

All 5 tar sands pipelines into US shut down in NoDAPL solidarity action

On the 11th of October, activists working in solidarity with the movement against the Dakota Access Pipeline shut down all five tar sands pipelines entering the US from Occupied Canada. Months of study went into how to shut them down safely by entering remote flow stations and closing valves. This is taking direct action to a new level-and a shot across the bow of not only the builders of the Dakota Access Pipeline but of ALL extractive industries that think arrests and police terror can shut down the growing movement against them. The 5 closed pipelines normally carry 15% of all oil into the US.
