Environmental activsts rally against Trump's proposal to gut NEPA

The 25th of Feb was the last day of the Department of the Interior's public comment hearings on Trump's proposal to gut the National Environmental Policy Act(NEPA). This is the law requiring such things as environmental impact statements for major projects. Trumps' proposal was called a "fox in the henhouse" as it would allow corporations to gain control of this process. This would turn the EPA into another FERC.

Protesters rally as Supreme Court hears Atlantic Coast Pipeline case

On the 24th of Feb, the US Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the appeal of a lower court ruling forbidding the (fracked gas) Atlantic Coast Pipeline from crossing under the Appalacian Trail. Outside protesters demanded the Court reject the pipeline and ignore the whining from fossil fuel industry attorneys.

Beyond Extreme Energy disrupts FERC meeting, forces delay of Jordan Cove LNG decision

On the 20th of Feb, Beyond Extreme Energy disrupted FERC's monthly pipeline and gas/oil facility permit issuing meeting. Twelve protesters were dragged out of the meeting. The protest delayed the start of the meeting and had the further effect of forcing a delay of Jordan Cove LNG export terminal permit decision.

Kremlin Annex protests Trump's pardons for corporate criminals and corrupt politicians

On the 18th of February, "Kremlin Annex" protesters (exiled by sound permit fees to H st) demanded that Trump's Attorney General Bob Barr resign in the wake of Trump's pardons for major corporate criminals and corrupt politicians. Pardons for Trump's convicted team members like Roger Stone are expected next.

Canadian railroad blockades for Wet'su'weten spread to Seattle after Vancouver injunction

On the 16th of February, the Canada-wide railroad blockades and sabotage that have forcibly halted most rail traffic (people and freight) in Eastern Canada and much of it elsewhere spread to the US with a solidarity rail blockade in Seattle.

Statement by Venezuelan Embassy Protectors After Mistrial

The trial of the Embassy Protection Collective ended in a mistrial, after the jury deadlocked. According to the Partnership for Civil Justice, "Having spent outrageous sums of taxpayers $$ in overkill fed court prosecution of a misdemeanor case & heavily restricting the defense the jury could hear, Trump's DC Attys Office was still unable to convict."

Early AM on the 7th of Feb, the RCMP assaulted unceded Wet’suwet'en lands seeking to push through the Coastal GasLink pipeline. 11 Indigenous land defenders and allies were arrested. The weekend brought further RCMP violence and arrests. On the 9th of February, DC area Indigenous people and their allies showed up at the home of the Canadian Ambassador and on the 10th of February at the Canadian Embassy demanding that RCMP withdraw from Wet’suwet'en land.

On the 8th of February, between 100 and 150 members of Patriot Front marched under intense pressure from a few dozen anti-Fascist activists from the Lincoln Memorial to the US Capitol and finally the parking garage their vans were waiting in. Every step of the way MPD fought for them while severely outnumbered anti-fascists delayed, heckled, and obstructed their march.
