IMF, World Bank prepare for meetings of uncertain power

Seventeen years ago, huge numbers of protesters and a masked-up Black Bloc protested and fought against corporate power in the streets of DC.An infamous mass arrest came out of a march the day before. Now the IMF and World Bank are meeting this weekend, April 21-23, with their power greatly reduced. Trump however is beginning to adopt parts of their agenda, wanting to add TPP style provisions to his proposed renegotiation of NAFTA.

Climate first! protests Wells Fargo's Keystone XL/TransCanada investments

On the 20th of April, Climate First! staged what may be the first snowflake of the coming avalanche of protests in DC against Trump's reborn Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. Two branches of Wells Fargo, one of the banks financing TransCanada were targetted. As 17th and Penn, activists got inside to deliver a letter. The second branch at 18th and K sts locked their doors.

Massive "Tax March" demands trump release his tax returns

On the 15th of April, thousands marched past Trump Hotel in DC to demand that Donald Trump release his tax returns, especially before any Congressional consideration of his "tax reform" package that might be designed to benefit him directly. A mock Trump "released" his tax returns in front of the Capitol-shredded.Similar marches took place in cities all over the US.

On the 14th of April, the "Tax March Chicken" appeared at Trump Hotel on the eve of the April 15th Tax March. Both the Tax March Chicken and the April 15th march are demanding that Trump release his tax returns so people can see what he is hiding.

Motorist threatening to ram can't stop DC Bike Party

On the 12th of April, the DC Bike Party again took to the streets of DC. Before the ride even got out of Dupont Circle, motorists began honking-and one yuppie in a BMW attempted without success to ram through the cyclists. He was stopped and the ride continued without further interference.

On the 8th of April, Richard Spencer and his neo-Nazi friends tried to exploit the Syrian crisis by holding a so-called "antiwar protest" at the White House. They were confronted by a larger crew of anti-Fascist protesters. As darkness fell, someone threw glitter on Richard Spencer as he began trying to escape with his crew. Then all hell broke loose-and Spencer had to run for it. Part of the anti-Fascist crew had to retreat because of the glitter incident, but other chased Richard Spencer to his taxi, from which he was ejected.

Cops raid activist home with guns drawn

On Monday, April 3, 2017, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) raided a known activist’s house in the Petworth neighborhood. MPD broke down the door with guns drawn even though people were home at the time. According to the search warrant, the raid was in furtherance of “the investigation into the conspiracy to riot” and to search for items associated with the “Black Bloc march on January 20, 2017,” the day of protests against Trump’s inauguration.

On the 5th of April, DCReInvest showed up in front of the Wells Fargo at 801 Penn Ave. Speakers urged all in earshot to close personal accounts with the notorious funder of the DAPL pipeline and private prisons. In addition, several speakers noted that the DC government is now legally REQUIRED to move their $2 billion in accounts out of Wells Fargo. This is due to the bank earning a "failing grade" with their ongoing housing discrimination and redlining.

Anti-Trans bigots at GW draws larger counterprotest, Hate Bus stays other side of town

Update 4-4-2017:NOM published photo of hate bus at US Capitol, this was apparently as close to GW as they dared to approach.Not sure when photo taken either.

On the 3rd of April, NOM's so-called "Free Speech Bus" also known as the "hate bus" for anti-Trangender images on its sides was due to appear in DC. A few anti-Transgender bigots showed up at George Washington University and attracted a student counterprotest leavened with counterinaugural veterans. They left after about an hour, with nobody having found the "Hate Bus," and were from an apparently unrelated group. There was no mention on NOM's twitter feed of even arriving in DC.
