On the 27th of July, I saw these posters while riding past Union Station. They condemn Union Station for paying poverty wages while making $168 million a year, and ask people to sign a petition. The word "strike" is prominantly featured on the posters, which can be construed as a warning to Union Station to pay a living wage or else.

Critical Mass rides on the last Friday of every month in DC are growing! Although not as big as the 600 rider Bike Parties (yet), these rides now seem to get bigger every month. The July 25th ride went to the DC General/DC Jail area, then to the SE Waterfront between the Navy Yard and the river and a mid-ride stopover. After that the ride went back through town before ending at a bar just south of U st.

Critical Mass DC departs from Dupont Circle at 8PM on the last Friday of every month.

On the 23ed of July, pro-Earth and climate justice activists held an organizing meeting at MLK Library for DC activists who will be travelling to NYC for the Peoples Climate March on the UN on Sep 21. The event is still 8 weeks out, and bus captains are being recruited so charter busses can be organized to provide transportation to this event.

A Copwatch patrol discovered US Park Police shining flashlights inside the "Black Forest" woods west of 23ed st NW south of O st NW at approximately 11:20PM on May 18th, 2014. They seemed to be moving slowly, as if they were looking for something on the ground-or like they were in bear country, seeking to avoid startling anything more powerful than them. At about 11:38PM, the cops suddenly ran to their cars and left in a bug hurry, presumably responding to some other call.

On the 17th of July, Israel invaded Gaza with ground troops, a major escalation in their second Summer War against their neighbors. That same day, Code Pink counterprotested a pro-Israel rally in Farragut Square. Their Twitter feed reported "Code Pink protesting against pro-Israel rally in Farragut Square. Very angry confrontations out here." A "Bruce Majors" posted This Youtube video of the Code Pink counterprotest

Code Pink Demonstration at the Egyptian Defense Office to protest the unjust sentencing of Al Jazeera Journalists and 183 Egyptians Sentenced to Death, and Call for an End to US Military Aid to Egypt . On Monday, June 23, an Egyptian court convicted three Al Jazeera journalists of “aiding the Muslim Brotherhood,” sentencing two of them to seven years in prison and one to ten years!! Just a few days earlier, 183 Egyptians were sentenced to death for simply being allegedly affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

At about 2:50AM, MPD Seargent Nebal drove MPD cruiser #1213 with all lights turned off on a foot trail between the "P st Beach" woods and the tennis courts behind the school. He got there by driving through the school's parking lot, again without lights.

There is pedestrian traffic in that area 24-7. In addition, the footpath is very dark and contains many obstacles. In addition to the reckless risk to pedestrians, Sgt Nebel ran the risk of damaging his expensive police cruiser on rocks or holes, and requiring the services of a tow truck to retrieve his car.

The White Student Union that caused so many problems and wrongful arrests last year no longer exists, but other racist organizations apparently want more of the same.

This effort by Obama includes promotion of the unpopular and stalled TPP or Trans-Pacific Partnership. It also includes more US bases and more US troops throughout Asia, an area long known for US bullying and attempts at domination (remember Vietnam?)

video from 4-11-2014 IMF protests: interviews and issues

Protesters and one of the workers at the IMF Spring Meetings speak on camera. The "Redd" scheme of taking forests away from Indigenous folks and giving it to coal, oil, and gas companies to "manage" for carbon credits as supported by the IMF is condemned by one speaker.

On the 13th of April, social activists from Food Not Bombs served free food in Murrow Park outside the IMF and World Bank meetings. Not one of the delegates accepted the food. Food Not Bombs then moved to Franklin Park where there was much more interest in the food from area homeless folks who rely on the availablity of free food.

On the 11th of April, IMF protesters seemingly managed to catch police and security by surprise. The buildings were not barricaded and protesters were able to close to face to face range on the sidewalk and even get under one of the tents in front of the IMF building.
