SodaStream to close factory in illegal West Bank settlement

On the 30th of October, Bloomberg.com reported that Sodastream has decided to shut down their factory in the illegal West Bank settlement industrial zone of Mishor Adumim, Occupied Palestine. This is a stunning victory for the Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions campaign modeled on the sucessful overthrow of Apartheid in South Africa.

Maccabe Haifi vs Washington Wizards basketball game draws pro-Palestine protest

On the 15th of October, the Israeli basketball team Macabee Haifi was defeated 105-95 by the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center. Both inside and outside, protesters denounced Israel's aggression against the people of Palestine. One protester re-used the former name of the Wizards, calling Macabee Haifi the "Israeli Bullets." This protest was part of the cultural boycott of Israel. That boycott, in turn, is part of the Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions campaign inspired by the sucessful campaign that overthrew apartheid in South Africa.

Security guard at Ethiopian Embassy shoots at protesters

On the 29th of September, a security guard at the Embassy of Ethiopia fired one shot from his sidearm at protesters opposing the current government of Ethiopia who appeared to have succeeded in entering the Embassy courtyard. Secret Service arrested the security guard, fortunately his bullet missed all the protesters. It did smash a window in a bystander's car.

Still cropped from the Youtube video. The gun in in the right hand of the man wearing the black suit. When it was fired the camera was pointing too low. Thankfully the gun was also pointed in an ineffective direction when it was fired!

Thousands gather in Dupont Circle to watch World Cup "Eviction Games"

On the 26th of June, a huge, mostly white crowd gathered in Dupont Circle to watch the US team lose to Germany in the World Cup. These Eviction Games were made possible by tens of thousands of evictions of favela residents in Rio and tens of thousands more in the rest of the country. The next Eviction Games in Brazil are the Olympics, and here in DC the rich want both the Olympics in 2024 and the evictions.
