DC Bike Party's April "Cherry Blossom Chase" ride takes to the streets

The DC Bike Party's annual April "Cherry Blossom Chase" is often their biggest ride of the year, and this year seemed to be no exception. Due to climate change moving up the cherry blossoms bloom about ten days, once again this ride came after the cherry blossoms were mostly finished.

On the 19th of March, the DC Bike Party held a special ride to the cherry blossoms, which were starting to open at that time. One rider remarked that the bike parties are outdrawing the anti-vax "trucker" convoys.

DC Bike Party holds first ride of the year, rings bells for Embassy of Ukraine

On the 9th of March, the DC Bike Party held their first ride of the year, including a round-trip crossing of Key Bridge on the route. On the return trip, riders rang their bells in solidarity as they passed the Embassy of Ukraine.

GOP Capitol Hill Club gets anticapitalist carolers

On the 10th of December, Extinction Rebellion DC showed up outside the GOP-dominated Capitol Hill Club for a round of anticapitalist caroling. There was little response from the GOP'ers inside except for one who yelled that Trump would be back in 2024. That drew a response that Trump belongs in prison from one person.

On the 27th of August, the final scheduled Boycott Nellie's Block Party took place in front of nearly empty Nellie's Sports Bar. The boycott itself continues: the previous night, Nellie''s owner Doug refused to show up at a community listening session he had previously agreed to attend.

DC Bike Parties are BACK

On August 11, the DC Bike Parties returned to their traditional 2nd Wed of every month rides that depart Dupont Circle at 8PM. This was after a special July 16th ride on the anniversary of the first DC Bike Party.

DC Juneteenth events include Million Moe March (gogo) and noise demo at DC Jail

On the 19th of July, Juneteenth events all over DC celebrated the 1865 end of legal slavery(excluding prison labor). Speaking of the prison labor exception, one of the events was a pot and pan banging noise protest at the DC Jail. Earlier, the "Million Moe March" go-go began at BLM Plaza and ended on U st, once known as "Black Broadway" before gentrification.
