Chelsea still in jail after 4th Circuit Court of Appeals reject appeal and rejects bail

On the 22nd of April, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Chelsea Manning's appeal and denied bail, keeping her in jail where she has been since the 9th of March for defying a grand jury's subpeona to snitch on (presumably) Julian Assange and Wikileaks. Of course, a "Grumbles" motion can be tried again at any time, since the root of it is to show that no amount of confinement can get the target to testify, making confinement punitive rather than probative and thus illegal for civil contempt. Only the U$ and Liberia still use grand juries at all.

Protesters show up at UK Embassy after arrest of Julian Assange

On the 11th of April, British police "forcibly removed" and arrested Julian Assange on an extradition warrant from the United Snakes after the government of Ecuador cravenly gave them a green light. That afternoon, protesters showed up at UK embassies all over the world. One of the protests was here in DC. Protesters are demanding that Assange (of Wikileaks) be released and NOT be extradicted to the US.

Chelsea Manning's lawyers file "grumbles motion" for release

Grand jury resistor Chelsea Manning is being held in solitary confinement for refusing to testify to a grand jury presumably investigating Assange and Wikileaks. On Monday, April 1, her attorneys filed what is known as a "grumbles" motion for her release. This is a motion to show that no amount of incarceration can induce the defendent to testify. Since grand jury holds are required to be "probative" and not "punitive," if the judge agrees Chelsea will never talk, he has to release her.

Senate Votes on Puerto Rico Disaster Aid and Emergency Food Assistance

The Senate agreed to vote next week on disaster relief legislation that includes $600 million in emergency food assistance for Puerto Rico. In recent days, a turbulent exchange between President Trump and Congressional leadership exploded over whether or not Puerto Rico disaster aid monies should be included in Senate legislation.

Chelsea Manning being held in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT

Update April 4: Cheslea FINALLY out of solitary, "released" into general population at Trusdale Detention Center. Keep the pressure on, let's get her released from jail entirely!

URGENT: On March 23, ChelseaResists! reported that Chelsea Manning (jailed for resisting a grand jury that appears to be investigation Assange and Wikileaks) has been held in "Administrative Segregation" or solitary confinemnt since she arrived at the William G Trusdale Adult Detention Center on March 8. She is held in her cell 22 hours a day, no doubt to increase the pressure on her to submit to the grand jury and throw her comrades under the bus. Chelsea has sworn not to cooperate no matter how much damage she gets from this abuse.

Alexandria jail REFUSES to allow Code Pink to visit Chelsea Manning

On the 9th of March, Code Pink tried to visit Chelsea Manning at the Alexandria, VA "Adult Detention Center" at 2001 Mill Road near the Eisenhower Ave Metro station. Guards claimed she could not have ANY visitors until she was "fully processed in" up to 72 hours later. There is a good chance this is a lie, as it was not the policy at the nearby Arlington County Jail in Feb 2017.

Chelsea Manning HELD for refusing to speak to grand jury

On the 8th of March, Chelsea Manning was held and taken into custody after appearing in Federal court for a contempt hearing after refusing to speak to a grand jury the previous day. She stated that she does not believe in or accept this secret process that "tends to favor the government" while speaking before the hearing. Several supporters were able to get inside the courthouse to support her prior to entering the closed hearing.
