Phillipines Embassy's 75 year celebrations draws anti-Duterte protesters

On the 15th of June, protesters marched on the Embassy of the Phillipines on Mass Ave. They were there to protest Phillipine "President" Duterte(famous for extrajudicial murder), ongoing US exploitation of the Phillipines, and the effective colonial status of the Phillipines subservient to the US although supposedly independent.

BLM, NJNP protest Nellie's Sports Bar after Black woman beaten by security

On the evening of the June 12 main Pride events, security at so-called Gay bar Nellie's Sports Bar claimed to see a Black woman drink an outside beverage. They responded by brutally dragging her down the stairs by her hair-as a camera rolled. One patron intervened against the security thugs. The next day, protesters showed up at Nellies vowing to shut them down.

Jubilee USA Statement on G7 Summit and Communiqué

The G7 Summit concludes in the United Kingdom and leaders release a communiqué on COVID-19 response, vaccines, trade, debt relief, tax reform and climate change.

Eric LeCompte the Executive Director of the religious development organization Jubilee USA Network, releases the following statement on the G7 Summit and communiqué:

“As a third wave of the pandemic hits developing countries, the G7 commits to donating a billion vaccines. This is progress, but falls short of what we need to end the pandemic.

Pride revelers drive off fundamentalist Christian counterprotesters

On the 12th of June, Pride returned to DC with a vengeance. Well into the afternoon, some fundamentalist Christians and two anti-trans extremists attempted to counterprotest Pride, only to taste that vengeance as the crowd reported began pushing them away. Cops swarmed into the area and an ambulance was seen. In the end, the cops extracted the religious and anti-trans extremists without seeking to make arrests

Protesters demand Arlington sever all ties with ICE, as drenching rains fall

On the 10th of June, migrant activists and their allies descended on the Arlington County Government Center just ahead of major storms that dumped 3+ inches of rain. They were there as part of the ongoing campaign to end all cooperation with ICE, in all cases, in all of Northern Virginia.

G7 COVID Summit: Vaccines, Tax, Debt, Climate, Trade

The presidents and prime ministers of 7 of the world's wealthiest countries gather in the United Kingdom to meet on the response to the economic and health crises spurred by the coronavirus. Hosted in the seaside town of Cornwall this weekend, the G7 Summit focuses on global vaccine distribution and tax, debt, aid, trade and climate policies.

The World Trade Organization began a process that could make it easier for poor countries to produce or procure COVID-19 vaccines. Pharmaceutical companies hold vaccine patents and WTO action is necessary to waive the patents. Less than 2% of coronavirus vaccines reached poor countries.

Treaty People Gathering SHUTS DOWN Enbridge Line 3 site with massive CD

On the 7th of June, well over 2,000 water protectors descended on an Enbridge construction site for Line 3. Hundreds locked themselves to heavy equipment-and to a boat. Over 100 arrests were reported by midnight. The targetted pumping station site (like much of Line 3) is trespassing on Anishinaabe lands. This is an existential fight for the Anishinaabe, as one pipeline break could be the end of the wild rice beds.

Defund MPD march beseiges FOP's headquarters in DC

On the 5th of June, protesters demanded MPD be defunded and money be spent instead on the community. They started on BLM Plaza with a go-go concert that drew a substantial crowd, the marched to the Fraternal Order of Police and blocked off the area in front of it for speeches.
