Poor People's Campaign civil disobedience at Capitol demands voting rights, end to fillibuster

On the 19th of July, the second of a sequence of "Moral Mondays" protests by the Poor People's Campaign included a major civil disobedience and more than 75 arrests at a blockade on 1st st NE by the US Capitol. Demands included an end to the filibuster, full restoration of the 1965 Voting Rights act, new Federal voting rights legislation, and an increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Moral Mondays march from the Supreme Court to the US Capitol

MAGAts and a few Proud Boys protest ongoing arrests and prosecution of J6 insurgents

On the 17th of July, about 100 Trump supporters including members of the Proud Boys returned to DC to protest the ongoing arrests and prosecutions of themselves and others for the violent Jan 6 attempt to forcibly overturn the 2020 election by storming the Capitol. They showed up at DC Jail, where some of their own have been held without bond.

Nellie's Sports bar tries to reopen, gets shut down by protesters, reopens again

On the 14th of July, an attempted reopening by Nellie's Sports Bar failed after community activists formed a human chain to block the doors. People are still furious about Nellie's former security guards dragging Keisha down the stairs during Pride weekend. The Friday protests were back on July 16, and on July 17 Nellies was closed, though the TV's were on and staffers inside.

Puerto Rico Medicaid Funding Advances in Congress

Permanent Fix Needed for 1.5 million US Citizens, Asserts Religious Development Group

Medicaid funding for 1.5 million US citizens living in Puerto Rico expires on September 30, if Congress doesn't act. A subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee approved legislation that Congress could enact to fund the health program for the next five years.
