Since Jan 6, Remove Trump has held daily "Swarm the Senate" protests on Capitol Hill demanding the Senate remove Donald Trump from office. On Thursday, Jan 16, these protests escalated to civil disobedience and 11 arrests as Senators were formally sworn in for Trump's post-impeachment trial. A conviction on either article of impeachment removes him from office.

In AM rush hour on the 13th of January, ShutDownDC dropped "Climate Emergency-no time for business as usual" banners from overpasses all over town. Banners were visible from the SE-SW Freeway, K st, Rock Creek Parkway, and many other locations as dispersed teams dropped dozens of banners simultaniously.

The 11 of January, 2020 was the 18th annniversary of the opening of the gates of Hell at Guantanimo Bay by George W Bush. Protesters marched to Trump Hotel bearing nine coffins for nine detainees who have died there, and one more for whoever is next to die from the atrocious conditions at Gitmo. Trump has vowed nobody will be released from there no matter what.

On the 9th of January, antiwar members of Congress and a number of antiwar activists spoke before a substantial rally in front of the US Capitol. They were there to pump up support for a War Powers Act resolution to require Trump to seek authorization from Congress prior to any further military action against Iran. The resolution pass the House 224-194 on mostly party lines shortly after the rally.

On the 4th of January, hundreds gathered in Lafayette Square to oppose Trump's reckless aggression and brewing war with Iran. At the conclusion of ANSWER's rally at the White House protesters marched on Trump Hotel. This was just one of dozens of simultanious antiwar protests across the US.

At about 2AM on the 4th of January, an MPD decoy targetting customers of sex workers first solicited sex themselves from an area activist, then resorted to potentially deadly force when their sting operation blew up into a chase. This was the 5th in a month-long series of harassment incidents by area police depts and their allies against the core crew of the activist in question.

On the 3ed of January, Jane Fonda's Fire Drill Fridays protest returned to the US Capitol. This time around, they were demanding that corporations responsible for fossil fuel extraction and demand be held accountable for the damage they have done. The protest culminated in a civil disobedience blockade of 1st st NE at E Cap Street in front of the US Capitol

On New Year's Eve 2019-2020, supporters of imprisoned grand jury resistors Jeremy Hammond and Chelsea Manning protested outside the Alexandria Detention Center. It has been confirmed that the noisemakers were heard and the protest seen from the inside. Protesters deployed fireworks, flares, and a laser in addition to noisemakers.

After the Dec 18 impeachment of Donald Trump, groups holding protests calling for impeachment pivoted to the next stage of removing him from office: a vote in the Senate to remove him from office. At least 20 GOP Senators will have to have their feet held to the fires of popular disgust with Trump to remove him prior to Jan 20, 2021.

Dec 17 was the night before the House votes to impeach Donald Trump. All over the US people turned out for protest rallies demanding he be impeached and removed. One of the rallies was in Olney, featuring, Rep Sarbanes, Senator Cardin and Senator Chris Van Hollen.

On the 14th of December, DC area Kurds, anti-Fascists, and othter supporters of the Syrian Democratic Forces protested in front of the White House. The protest demanded that Turkey pull their troops out of Northern Syria and stop their bombing. In addition protesters condemned Donald Trump for greenlighting the invasion.

On the 11th of December, the last DC Bike Party of the year took to the streets. After an uphill run via Mass Ave and some side streets to Wisconsin Ave, the ride stopped at "Light Battle" at Georgetown Glow. This artwork features two teams of stationary bikes and an arch of pulsing LED lights.

On the 3ed of December, Park Police barricaded Beach Drive and a location on Oregon Ave giving access to the opposite side of the woods W of Beach Drive, and had initially barricaded several other locations. It appears that they were shooting deer between Beach Drive and Oregon Ave, as their deployment matched previous deer killing sessions.

On the 16th of November, the ANSWER Coalition held a protest against the US supported "soft coup" in Bolivia. A smaller group of possibly wealthy and mostly non-Indigenous Bolivians counterprotested. The right wingers claimed there was no coup, but speakers at the rally reported Evo Morales resigned in the face of "guns to his head" from the military, a week after sabotage nearly brought down his helicopter.

On the 13th of November, the DC Bike Party took to the streets on an only slightly above-freezing night. The DC Bike Party rides the 2nd Wed of every month from April through December, so there will be one more ride this year.

On Veteran's Day (Nov 11), Code Pink protested at the Kennedy Center against an exhibit "artwashing" the Iraq War. The Boeing-sponsored exhibit is of GW Bush's own paintings of the very veterans whom he sent to war and who came back wounded. Bush sent them to fight for lies about nonexistant WMD and nonexistant Saddam-al Quaeda ties.

On the 7th of November, the GOP held a strategy retreat at Trump Hotel to discuss their response to the impeachment proceedings against Trump. Outside, protesters banged drums and blew horns and whistles. GOP members often had to run a gauntlet of protesters to get inside.
