On the 15th of October, off-duty/out of state cops in DC for a fallen officers memorial hassled and drew engagement from a Black Lives Matter march for Antwan Gilmore. Some of the cops were drunk while calling for MPD to attack the march.

Final day of People vs Fossil Fuels CD's diverts to US Capitol

On the 15th of October, the Indigenous-centered "People vs Fossil Fuels" civil disobedience protests switched targets to the US Capitol instead of the White House. This was the day featuring young water protectors. Capitol Police used unnecessarily rough tactics to push supporters back with bikes, they appeared to be using this for a training exercise.

On Oct 14th, Indigenous water protectors got inside the Dept of the Interior building and occupied the offices of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) for the first time since the 1970's. Cops got violent, tasering and clubbing people early in the action. In the end,a reported 55 people were arrested and cops had to force their way through blockades surrounding the building to get out with arrestees.

On Oct 14, the 4th day of People vs Fossil Fuels, Extinction Rebellion DC followed up the morning CD at the White House with a blockade of H st NW and a double banner hang from the US Chamber of Commerce. The US Chamber of Commerce was renamed the "Chamber of Climate Chaos" since they seemingly have never met a fossil fuel project they didn't like.

Howard students holding Blackburn defy Noon deadline, defeat eviction attempt after threats of expulsion

On the 12th of October, Howard University students occupied the Blackburn building demanding relief on housing and tuition. The administration claims this began after a "town hall" meeting broke down. The HU Police attempted to remove them at night with a false fire alarm, and students me a Noon Oct 13 deadline to evacuate or face expulsion from the university with an arm-locked blockade that defeated an attempt at forcible eviction.

People vs Fossil Fuels Day 3: 90 more arrests, head of Corps of Engineers gets home demo

On the 13th of October, water/climate protectors again marched on the White House demanding an end to Federal approval of fossil fuel projects. They also demanded Biden formally declare a climate emergency. Ninety protesters were arrested this time around. Shortly thereafter, activists showed up at the Arlington home of Jamie Pinkham, head of the US Army Corps of Engineers.

People vs Fossil fuels Day 2: 155 arrests, climbers replace US flags at Corps of Engineers

On the 12th of October, People vs Fossil Fuels direct actions continued in DC. In the morning, activists again descended on the White House, where 155 more people were arrested. A few hours later, Indigenous activists descended on the US Army Corps of Engineers, one of several key agencies in approving pipelines. Climbers replaced the US flags with more appropriate banners.
