Women's march outdraws Trump's Inauguration

On the 21st of January, the Women's March, was declared by organizers to be the largest Inaugural protest in history, outdrawing Trump's "orange man" inaugural the day before. It was so but the orignal march route on the Mall was filled with rallygoers, forcing cancellation of the originally planned march. As a result, unoffical marches went past the White House, shut down Chinatown, and generally took over nearby streets.

Massive Queer Dance Party takes the street near Michael Pence's house

On the 18th of January, a packed crowd marched from the Friendship Heights Metro to Western Eve and Tenneson St, as close to the home of Mike Pence as police barricades on the side street would let them get. Most of the crowd had to stay on Western Ave simply due to its size. The message of the crowd was simple: the hate and bigotry Pence stands for will not be tolerated. This was a Disrupt J20 and Werk for Peace event.

DC Police launch harassment campaign against transgender sex workers

Early AM on Sun, August 21, the entire area of K and L streets between N Cap st and 1st st NE was overrrun with cops while transgender sex workers were forced to move east to a temporary area to meet their clients. Presumably their clients knew to check further east if the normal area was overrun with pigs, as this is the direction cops have been pushing them since condos took over the old 5th and K area. Out of state cars seen parked near places like NPR radio were harassed with fake "crime alert" parking tickets whose real purpose no doubt was to warn that license plates were being logged by cops. The broken piles of car window glass indicating an active car break-in zone have never been evident in that area, thus casting doubt on any actual "crime" problem concerning anything other than sex work.

Trump deposition draws protest by HRC morning after huge Orlando vigil in Dupont Circle

On the morning of the 16th of June, appearance by Donald Trump at a DC law firm to give a deposition drew protesters from the nearby Human Rights Campaign. The previous night thousands had gathered in Dupont Circle to remember those killed by theocratic hate in Orlando, Florida. Some of them no doubt came from HRC, so when Trump showed up they were probably not inclined to tolerate his throwing more fuel on the flames of hate and religious warfare.

Pride goes on in defiance of Orlando attack by Daesh

Early AM on the 12th of June, a gunman swearing alliegance to Daesh (ISIS) shot up a Gay bar in Orlando, FL, killing over 50 people and wounding over 50 more. A second attack was defeated in California when the attacker ran afoul of police. In defiance of the attacks, hundreds of thousands showed up at DC's Capitol Pride festival, the second day of a two-day event. Days earlier, the Washington Blade ran a cover showing Donald Trump wagging his finger and warning GLBTQ people to "Enjoy Pride-it may be your last." The day that was widely circulated was the same day Donald Trump spoke before the anti-Gay group Concerned Women for America. Daesh is but one of many theocratic ememies of GLBTQ rights.
