The 8th of March was International Women's Day. Protests were held all over the so-called "United States" against an expected Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs Wade. Here in the DC area, "Injustice" Kavanaugh's Chevy Chase neighbors organized yet another protest at his house. This time around the protest took the form of a dance party.

Suspected MD/VA "Convoy" leader gets signs posted at his house

Late night on the 16th of Feb, it was announced on Twitter that not only had the leader of MD/VA "trucker" convoy organizing been found, but that local antifascists had dropped by his house and left signs identifying him as a Proud Boy.

Jan 22, 2022 was the 49th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision, and many fear it will be the last. On the evening of that day, protesters marched on the homes of Supreme Court so-called "justices" Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts, warning that abortion bans will not be tolerated and calling out these judges for their previous abuses of women and for their involvement in the 2000 Bush vs Gore case.

Kavanaugh gets 2nd home demo over TX abortion law-from neighbors

On the first day of October, Supreme Court so-called "Justice" Brett Kavanaugh got a second protest at his house over the Texas abortion law he chose to uphold. This time it was mostly his own neighbors, protesting after dark with a candlelight "Vigil for Democracy." Kavanaugh could not leave to escape the protest, as he is in quarantine at his house after a positive covid test.

Climate protesters block Rt 28 in downtown Rockville, MD

On the 26th of August, climate protesters took over the streets of downtown Rockville, including Rt 28, one of two main roads. After a march through the center of town and past Richard Montgomery High School, marchers returned to nearly the starting point. There, moving the "eco-village" props into the street provided cover for young activists to set up the real blockade. Five young activists and two staying with them in solidarity were arrested.

Protesters march on police stations against Gaithersburg police shootings

On the 31st of July, protesters marched through the streets of Gaithersburg, MD for Kwamena Ocran and Ryan Leroux. Kwamena was shot and killed by Gaithersburg police in January, and Ryan shot down in a blizzard of gunfire (24 shots in all) by Montgomery County Police on Friday, July 16.

Climate protesters descend on MoCo County Executive Elrich's office building

On the day before Earth Day,climate protesters showed up at the Montgomery County Executive Office Building. People from Sunrise MOCO, Chesapeake Climate Action Network, 350MOCO, and Extinction Rebellion MOCO were there, calling out Erlich's ongoing efforts to delay climate action to death.

Fuck the Police march takes Takoma Park, MD streets

On the 10th of April, a Fuck the Police (FTP) march gathered at Takoma Park Metro, then crossed into MD and marched through Takoma Park and Silver Spring to protest Montgomery County police officers Dionne Holliday and Kevin Christmon handcuffing a 5 year old boy and threatening him with a beating for wandering away from school. The march faced little police opposition, perhaps out of shame.

Silver Coalition protests murder of Kevin Costlow by MoCo sheriff's deputy

On the 6th of February, a Montgomery County sheriff's deputy shot and killed MD resident Kevin Costlow. On Fed 14, activists organized by tye Silver Coalition showed up in front of the main MoCo courthouse, demanding that police and sheriff's departments be defunded. Speakers emphasized that police protect the property of the rich, NOT the general public.

Activists hold ground, march to BLM Plaza in face of fascist threats

On the 21st of November, SURJ held some group discussions on BLM Plaza and the Fuck the Police march went there almost directly from Dupont Circle. This was to provide relief for the hard-pressed folks looking after the plaza and the signs on the White House fence in the face of repeated attacks from fascists.
